Comment by jrtpup on March 1, 2013 at 12:50pm QUESTION: I have ophthalmic migraines. I know they're related to retinal disease, are they a precursor of retinopathy?
Comment by Josh F on March 1, 2013 at 12:16pm Oh and I never said I had an easy question to answer, but Dr Wong knows me well haha
;-)
Comment by Josh F on March 1, 2013 at 12:13pm Can DMI be seen via Slit lamp or can it only be diagnosed via FE exam? The recent CWS in my macular area made me paranoid about DMI, yet my focal leakage from non clinically significant DME has reversed with my transition to sub 7 A1c, yet ischemic changes have been ongoing. Can CWS as a result of Hypoglycema be simply an acute event and not indicative of a more sinister predictor for DMI? How relatively rare is ischemic maculopathy in moderate NPDR ?
I was diagnosed with a cataract ( at 40 ) a few years after being diagnosed with Type 1 LADA ( at 38 ). Are these events connected?
I hope to make the videochat. Glad to know that it will be taped.
Questions:
1. I recently saw a commercial for Bausch and Lomb Occuvite to maintain eye health. Is this something that will help Diabetics with PDR? Should anyone over 45 take it?
2. Does eye strain cause any damage to the eye/vision? I am having a catarct extraction in 2 weeks and that eye gets sore on a daily basis, especially when I am working on the computer. (my "cheaters" only help the vision in my "good" eye these days).
Comment by Susan B. on February 27, 2013 at 8:01am Is there a relationship between diabetes and dry eye? My husband has very brittle Type1; has been receiving treatment for diabetic retiapahy since last May and has developed dry eye too. He has had 3 successful laser treatments and we are very grateful for his slow and steady improvement.
Thank you, Marie!
Comment by Marie B on February 27, 2013 at 5:39am Stephanie, it will be recorded and you can view it later.

Comment by Linda G on February 27, 2013 at 4:30am Looking forward to it.
I have a question for Dr Wong. Are ocular migraines connect to diabetes? Migraines are provoked by the dilation and/or constriction of blood vessels, which themselves are occasionally affected by certain levels of bg. Might there be a relationship?
Unfortunately I won't be available to hear Dr. Wong's presentation. Is there a way to access the event in some format at a later time?
