At the age of 36, Andy Holder (aka Iron Andy) was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. This came with no family history and no warning. Being a husband and a father of two young boys he was determined to overcome this disease and he was NOT going to let it limit his life! He decided to do something extraordinary in an effort to motivate and inspire other people struggling with diabetes. Despite never having done a triathlon before and not knowing how to swim, Andy decided to accomplish what most consider to be the ultimate test of mental and physical endurance; the Ironman triathlon!
With a positive attitude, hard work and a “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop” mentality, Iron Andy is now a seven-time Ironman Finisher! He is a national spokesperson for diabetes awareness and has recently created the Iron Andy Foundation, who’s mission is to send children to diabetes camps and empower them to live an extraordinary life in the face of this disease. He is often the keynote speaker at health and fitness expos, universities, medical centers and corporate sales meetings.
Iron Andy has also created the innovative new digital magazine Insulin Nation, and writes a great blog.
