I had the opportunity to attend a CIRM research update event last week at UC Irvine and it was fantastic. That one was focused on neurodegenerative diseases and the impact stem cell science is having in modeling diseases like Huntington's and Parkinson's. It was powerful to me to see different patient groups come together. Researchers dedicated to decoding the mysteries of diabetes learn from the work going on in other diseases. And of course, people living with chronic disease have the opportunity to learn and be challenged by others living with different conditions. It seems like the work going on in stem cell research provides an excellent foundation for different patient groups to come together and support research that's going to make a difference in the lives of millions. I heartily recommend attending the Stockton Type 1 Talk + DHF + CIRM autoimmune research program.
