If you're stable and well controlled, she's probably right. I don't see an endo, never have. I see my PCP every 90 days and we keep a close watch on things (A1c every time), but as long as my control remains good (which it is, thus far), we're both happy.
That's the key thing -- keep a close watch so you know when/if something changes. That way you and your doc know when intervention is called for. In the meantime, if you're stable, you can just get on with life.
And as Gary said, a meter is the best way to learn how you react to different foods and lifestyle issues.
