Well, I was diagnosed 17 years ago at the age of 5. Basically, everything outside of not peeing on myself and learning the abc's I can brag about having done with diabetes.
I, after being diagnosed with diabetes:
-Learned to ride a bike
-Learned to drive a car
-Graduated High School
-Earned an Associate's degree in Science
-Am working on a bachelor's degree in Geology
-Joined the track team in highschool
-Beat Arizona Cardinal's current quarterback, Logan Thomas in a 200m sprint (he could probably beat me now, but i did it!)
-Was a district level pole vaulter
-Learned to play baritone horn
-Qualified for the all-district band
-Scored 1820 on my SAT
-Have a stable relationship with the girl of my dreams
-Operated multiple pieces of heavy machinery
-FLOWN A PLANE...TWICE! (didn't tell them I had diabetes... oh well the law is stupid anyway)
-Climbed a 100ft vertical cliff face
-Repelled down said cliff face
-Went caving (like real caving, not a nice fancy lit up tour)
-Learned to do a handstand
-Lifted 315lbs in a deadlift
-Joined a PAYING bluegrass band
-Posted a youtube video of said band!
^^^like seriously watch that video, Casey is a great songwriter.
All of this and more was done while keeping my a1c's for the most part in the 6's
Basically, I have done just about everything in my life in spite of diabetes. If you have any doubts, trust me, they WILL go away and you can live your life completely content and happy just like everyone else.
