hi all, well more bad news I'm afraid, Diabetes has reared its ugly head again, My cousin just found out that he now has diabetes. Diabetes has picked my family apart and separated me from my friend forever. And I am sick..... sick and tired!! of it. .... its time to "Bite" back!!
but I have one itsy bitsy problem, I'm lazy. When it comes to exercise I quickly loose intrest and quit. I live in an apartment community with all sorts of sport activity. this apartment is hughe with a full size golf course, a huge lake, we can go sail boating, fishing, rowing, canoeing, water skiing, walking trails, biking trails, outdoor exercise trails, there is a basketball court, three tennis courts, beach volleyball court, two swimming pools, two exercise rooms complete with trainers, it even has a dog park. there are hills to climb the terrain is lush and green there is a wooded trial where deer and other animals can be seen the views of the lake are gorgeous!. I live here and I take part in none of it.
I tried once to get on the treadmill, but that was too boring, and the treadmill faces a mirror so you have to stare at your sweaty self in the mirror watching your Fat jinggle as you walk...ewww! who wants to look at that while they are exerciseing. and if I want to see the out doors, I have to turn my head to the extreme left. so I am walking forward with my head turned to the left. how ridiculus I must have seen. so the treadmill was a no no for me. I quickly gave up and began to gain weight.
Then one day I went to see my doctor and she told me if I loose 6lbs, she will take me off my medications....loose 6lbs? how am I going to lose 6lbs? I hate exercise. but thats o.k I found a solution and it was starring me right in the eye and drooling all over my shoes. the answer to loosing weight and getting off of the medicine is my dogs! my dogs will help me ....how do you ask? well let me tell you.
You see, I didnt keep up with the exercise because it was called Exercise and its something you chose to do to lose weight. but if I am simply walking a dog then its not exercise and its not like I have a choice, I have to walk those dogs or suffer the concequences. and I do not want to spend my day cleaning the mess off of the floor. so I walk the dogs and make myself believe its for them that I do this not for me but for them and its not exercise its simply "a walk in the park". and my dogs are more than happy to help me "Lick" this diabetes.
I have three dogs: Dublin a 120lb Irish wolfhound, Felcor a 110lb Anatolian shepard Great pyranees mix, and Maxine a 30lb beagle cockerspaniel mix. Dublin, felcor and maxine, that is their real names when they are laying around the house. but when its time for exercise.....their faces remain the same, but their names are changed to protect the innocent.
Dublin the Irish wolfhound A.K.A the Drill sergent! the drill sergent will come right up to your face, nuzzle to ear and Bark a big loud booming WOOF!! right in your ear!. Woof Woof he says, which means" get up you lazy bones!" and I say "but its 4 o'clock in the morning."WOOF,WOOF, WOOF!!! which means: I did not ask you what time it was! I said get up and exercise you maggot!!! the drill seargent is relentless, he will not be denied. so I climb out of bed and take him outside for a walk, and not a short walk either. drill seargent won't complete is buisness until after at least 30 minutes into our walk.
Next we have Felcor, anatolian shepard/great pyaneese mix A.K.A the general, now I don't know much about the military but I suspect the general is the one that does all the planning. felcor is the one who makes all the plans on our walk. he plans to go left when I want to go right, he plans to go this way when I want to go that way. and some times we play tug of war during our walk just to get in some upper body strength. he will stand his ground while I try to pull him in my direction. the general and I walk in a zig zag pattern which is great for dogeing the bullets of diabetes. HE walks ME up hill, down hill, around the tree, through the bushes where ever the rabbit trail leads. and please lord don't let him see an actual rabbit. thats when our walk turns into a run. so I guess you can say my walk with the general is only half walks, because the other half is a run.
And last but not least is Maxine, my beagle/cocker spaniel mix A.K.A the pacemaker ( be still my heart) she don't bark commands, or give zig zag plans, she just keeps pace with her master ( something all christians should do ) if I start off slow she walks slow, if i go fast she will go fast. she is right by my side helping me to keep my pace. she does her job and she is very good at it. wether we jump or jog she right next to me.
So there you have it. my weapons against diabetes, Diabetes tried to take a "bite" out of me, but i won't let it "Lick " me.
I am going to zig zag, run, pull, jump, jog, walk and all the while keep pace with MY master. and walk away from Diabetes. and with the help of my three companions and my Lord and savior, I think I may have a fighting chance at defeating this thing.
so what about you? whats in your arsonal of weapons against diabetes?. oh and to answer your question "Who let the dogs out?" ....I did!!!! and we are Biting Back! WOOF!!
