Metformin, for those that can tolerate it, is an excellent medication with a lot of history and some probably good side effects. It takes several days to 'build up' to its full effect in the body, so it is not surprising that it hasn't helped with your blood glucose yet. In addition, many doctors start patients out on a smaller dose, and slowly ramp up to the needed dose over time (to help with side-effects).
In any case, I wish you luck with it! I could not tolerate it myself, but it was probably the wrong option for my, anyway.
