I am up for an insulin pump with my insurance in August. I currently use the One Touch Ping combined with the Dexcom G5 CGM system that I am very happy with.
Although the new Medtronic 670G sounds awesome, I am hesitant for the following reason. Being a woman, I wear my small One Touch ping pump in my underwear wrapped in a baby sock. This allows me to wear dresses (which I enjoy wearing a lot).
My animas ping pump comes with a remote. This allows me to bolus easily at a dinner or meeting table (remember I keep my small pump hidden in my underwear). I believe this pump is bigger (plus no remote) ...so where would one put a belt hook for a pump when I wear a dress (especially shorter dresses since I am small).
I know this is a very personal point, but it is important to me. I remember when I was scared to switch to a pump from needles, it was due to the forum when another woman suggested to me wrapping the pumps in a baby sock, hidden in underwear. That suggestion has been invaluable to me.
i have two Animas ping pumps that still work so I am thinking I can wait for newer technology. Don't devices usually get smaller and better as time goes on, but maybe I am missing something?
I welcome any thoughts you have.
