Thank you so much for the support! I am still learning about this site and just learned about blogs.... i didnt know anyone would read mine...you have inspired me now that i know i have an audience! after i wrote my first blog i tested my sugar and it was 495. i corrected and i went out for the day. i went out for dinner which i never know how to count the carbs for sushi very well. i came home and my sugar was 225 which is not to bad for me. my average last month was 271. so with guessing on the carbs i think i did pretty well. i corrected for the night and went to bed but i did do some midnight munching. i even covered for it though. so we will see how i turn out in the morning! i am new to the pump so i am leaning about my basal rate etc... this pump is all new to me so im open to suggestions on learning about the correct basal rates! thanks again for the support. i need it!
renka do you have Pumping Insulin? It's a bible for pumping, loaded with info on setting basal rates,I:C ratio, etc. A real must-have!
Proud of you for taking the first steps. Has anyone taught you how to do basal testing? Your endo or CDE?

hi everyone, sorry i didnt get back to you all last week. i landed myself in the ER and was there for a week. nothing quite out of the ordinary for me because of my severe gastroparesis. Im not usually in there for a week though. so, I dont have the book but i will certainally look into it. my diabetes nurse educator has gone over the basal testing with me once. (ive only been on the pump for 2 months) but thanks for reminding me, cause these are the thingst that i forget. i am going to go refer to my booklet right now. i have an appt with my CDE on Wed.I started off with a good sugar today 171. anything under 200 is good for me. my pump is set at 140 for now. so i ate breakfast and took what i thought i should. IM going to be testing more over the next few days before my appt. 3 hours after etc. so that we can get a good pic of whats going on. Thanks again for your input. I was happy that there was some for me today when i signed on seeing that i was gone for a week! HAPPY PUMPING! big smiles! karen...

hi all... its been 17 days... i didnt do well for the first two weeks but the last three days have been great. i have had about 3 blood sugars over 200 and one over 300... that is out of about 30 blood sugars. most of them have been between 75 - 180.... for me that is unheard of. what has helped me is that im taking a "one day at a time" approach and its working. i had a very bad meeting with my nurse last week where there were lots of tears and frustration. its a struggle every day. i realize that you cant count on friends or family to do this for you. you can only do this for yourself. take small steps (thanks for that advice jrtpup) One day at a time is working for me. Three days in a row of consistant blood sugars is the longest streak ive had in 26 years. This will continue. Thanks for the support. Along with this I hope that I am less scattered and my blogs will be more legible and more enjoyable to read. Right now Im just throwing down ANYTHING... its a start! my life and brain are so overwhelmed right now! Thanks for the support everyone! PS... regarding my gastroparesis... i have not been in the hospital in almost two weeks now... That is an accomplishment too! im happy!
