@Bradford1, I heartily agree that JDRF is a great organization to donate to! Its mission is really different from that of Diabetes Hands Foundation, though, and I think both are important. Those of us who are part of JDRF's target audience (people with type 1), are anxiously awaiting the cure they've been helping to bring to fruition for so long, but in the meantime we have to live our lives with diabetes, and for many people community is a crucial part of that. Also, about half our members have type 2 diabetes, and will therefor not directly benefit from the work of JDRF.
I myself donate to JDRF, but I think of that as an investment in the futures of the roughly 5% of people with diabetes who have type 1. I think of a donation to Diabetes Hands Foundation as a investment in the present for all people with diabetes!
