The very first thing I want to say to you today is that you are totally worth it!
You are worth $110 running shoes.
You are worth $250 of performance clothing.
You are worth $175 of new books.
You are worth a $350 dehydrator.
You are worth a $400 blender.
You are worth a trip to a world-renown clinic to consult with a specialist.
The bill came today for the visit with the endocrinologist.
To see the doctor cost $666 plus $72 facility charge.
Since that consult, I've grown increasingly disappointed in the content. The doctor was professional, and she didn't rush. The information that she provided, however, was stuff we already knew from reading Barnard, Cousens, and Fuhrman. My goals for you are better than what the endo suggests.
You and I own this diabetes thing. You are not diabetic; you are a person with diabetes. Diabetes does NOT define you. Your passion for life and your sensitivity for others are your hallmarks.
Because you are doing so well without meds (save 10 units of insulin each night), there is no need to go back in September other than to say, "See, I told you so."
You know what's not worth it? Paying $738 to say I told you so.
Let's start shopping for fall and winter performance clothing. You're worth it!
I love you!
