TuDiabetes

I would like to hear what new feature would be most valuable to you, so we can work on adding those to the site faster:
-The ability to vote on diverse topics: a polling mechanism, so we can take the pulse of the community.

-A community calendar: so we can add important dates. Not just holidays, but birthdays, major diabetes dates (days when special hearings take place in Congress, International Diabetes Day, etc.), days when meet-ups take place across the country/world.

-The ability to upload audio tracks: do you see yourself uploading a podcast, as opposed to writing a blog post? Would that be more convenient to you? Are you a musician and you would like to upload some of your tracks? (we'd need to be careful about the posting of music tracks that are not recorded by one of us...)

Thought I'd give this discussion a tiny bump, since I really need input to determine the direction to move in next.

I like the sound of all three, if I had to choose my favorite it would be #2.

What types of dates would you like to see in there?

the stuff you listed, plus how about the dates of all the d-walks? I realize there's so many , so it might get crowded on that calendar! :)

How about a simple BG conversion tool (mmol to mg and mg to mmol)? Might be handy for those posters who wish to show both values.

Makes good sense. For now, here's a link to the one on the CWD site (also listed on the home page, on the right, under Diabetes Tools):
http://www.childrenwithdiabetes.com/bs_conv.htm

but I think we could benefit from having an in-line converter hosted in TuDiabetes, that allows our members to do the job here.

Is there any way to make the forms easier to get through? Other sites I visit highlight the posts that I haven't read yet and bring those to the top so I don't have to scroll through to see how long ago a reply was posted vs when I last checked.

I hope that made sense - if not I'll try to clarify.

Let me get back to you on that, Stacie. It does make sense. I need to ask the folks that run Ning, to see if an update of this kind is in the works.

Chat Room??

That was not on the list!!! (just kidding) :D
(I so knew you were going to ask for that).

Here's my concern about a chat room, and it's not about you (obviously). Chat rooms are breeding ground for people looking to stir things up big time. That is why, in my experience, if you have one up, it needs to be monitored.

How would it be if we got to a point where we can have chats with people (doctors, maybe even "famous" people with diabetics, etc.) that took place during a specific time? Would that be something you'd like to see?

I have belonged to another group for about 5 years and we chat all the time and have become great friends. We have experienced births, deaths, and divorces together. I have even convinced many to go on the pump including convincing mother's of diabetic children to get off of shots. One child who is now 6 is getting her picture taken for the JDRF. I have even met many of them in person and have exchanged gifts via are message board, where we wrap up a big gift with all sorts of little gifts and send out to a surprised participant. We have gotten into some battles, but that mostly happens on the message board not during the chat. I do go to another chatroom where they have guests talk, but those get overmonitored and boring.

Of course it is up to you, but there are many interesting people here that I have not seen on these other sites and I hope this site remains argument free. Monitors cause their own issues I have found.

Ooooo and if I have to pick, the calendar of events is a good one, especially when we can wish everyone a happy birthday. You can add mine first as it is 8/1. :)

Actually chats with famous diabetics would be amazing. I would love to know how Scott Verplank handles his basals for golfing and how often he tests and if he is getting a CGMS. Famous diabetic chats, yea, I like that one. :)
