FDA study: Insulin pumps linked to injuries, deaths in teens?

I have to admit I was a bit outraged at this piece of news this morning:
FDA study: Insulin pumps linked to injuries, deaths in teens

In part, my feeling this way stems from the way the story is titled by AP to make it sound like pumps are bad and partly due to the fact that there have been so many issues in recent years with regards to FDA-approved drugs that have been proven to be harmful to some patients.

Thoughts?

At least the WSJ version was more appropriately titled:
Parents Advised to Monitor Teen Use of Insulin Pumps

"They emphasized that the reports aren't always clear about the cause of death or injury." That's the sentence that got to me. It was buried in the middle of the piece. The title is very misleading.

I wrote a blog posting on this story this morning, see "In Defense of Insulin Pumps?" for the full critique (and journal article). The bottom line is that its just an incendiary headline, but the evidence suggests no difference between the Adverse Events involving pumps and those involving insulin without a pump.
