OK so I'm sipping on a diet soda right now, which is rare for me. I gave up the daily habit late last year in favor of mineral water. I still have a Diet Pepsi every now and again when I feel like it, but for the most part, I try to avoid it. I've heard stories about possible long term effects....

When I was diagnosed, I was encouraged to drink as much diet soda as I wanted. Doctor said, "This is the only thing you can drink that's sweet and won't affect your blood sugar." Since then I've had at least one diet soda every day for over fifteen years. Usually more..I could easily finish a 2-liter bottle in one evening if I wanted.

I was totally addicted until the day I said enough is enough. This stuff can't be good for me.

So is anyone else out there a current or recovering dietsodaholic? Does anyone else believe that they put sugarfree crack in this stuff?

I have to laugh at myself because I am reading all of these replies while drinking a diet Pepsi... I really do want to stop drinking it!

My name is Leah and I am proudly addicted to Diet Coke!

Today was my Diet Coke nightmare!!!! I went to my grocery store across the street to get my grocery shopping done and went down the soda aisle to grab the trusty Diet Coke and IT WAS GONE!

ALL OF IT!!! NONE WAS LEFT!!! I DAMN NEAR HAD A HEART ATTACK!!!

It was like Willy Wonka had put a golden ticket inside all of the soda containers and all the rich, bratty kids bought them all up!

I asked the girl checking out the groceries if she knew when they were going to restock and she didn't know... Doesn't she know I have needs?

OH THE HORROR!!!

LOL!!!!
I was a diet Coke addict before Grad School. When I started Grad School, my university sold Diet Pepsi only.... I used to think "OH THE HORROR"... finally.... "if you can't beat them, join them".... now I am a Diet Pepsi Addict!

Is this weird?
Every time Diet Pepsi comes out with a new flavor, I get addicted to it. The last one was Diet Cherry Pepsi.... I had to have it everyday.... Then one day I didn't like it any more and went back to my old regular--diet Pepsi..... It was like that for the Diet Pepsi "Jazz" also....

Was in South Dakota earlier this year and found a Diet Pepsi that I hadn't seen in quite some time, Diet Pepsi with Lime. I LOVE that stuff. I have finished off 2 cases of cans of it. I wish it was available in So. Ill., but it's not. Too expensive to drive back to SD to get some more. Guess I will just have to settle for Diet Pepsi, Diet Dew, Diet Dr. Pepper (my big 3).

We have it in Northern Illinois

there is nothing wrong with diet soda...if you want to stop drinking it to feel better about yourself thats fine. the only thing wrong with diet soda is the carbonation...it can make your teeth sensitive by messing with your enamel or mess with the acid in your stomach. its fine other then that. yes my teeth are a little sensitive, but i just brush my teeth with sensedyne tooth paste and im good. you people arent addicted to soda. are you addicted to drinking water? NO.

I'd like to know why the soda companies aren't rushing here to advertize their latest brands to us. Or to get us to appear in testimonials. I mean, I've only had 7 diet cokes so far today. That's not so bad, is it? Or, how about some kind of "frequent drinker" program for us? Or at least send us some free stuff? Is that too much to ask? We've earned it, haven't we?

No! Good idea Jonathan!!!!!!!! Lets see if they will do that!!!!!!!!! I'm always drinking them..........That's the only thing they told me along time ago that I could have, and at that time Tab was the only diet drink out there! But now there's all kinds now!!!! Tab not so good but now well lets just say there's more than enough for me!!!!!!!!!!

I miss Tab. It was so good way back when it was the only thing available. So much variety now. Here's the next question: How many cans/bottles a day of diet soda are we having? What's the most we have ever had in a day?

I average 8+ cans per day. The most in one 24-hour period was back when I was in college and needed the caffeine for an all-nighter. It was over 30 cans, and that made me kick the habit for a while. Signs of an addict -- an overdose.
