I absolutely recommend Psyching Out Diabetes by Richard Rubin, June Bierman and Barbara Toohey. It's about a decade old, but has some great tips for coping emotionally.

Thank you so much! I'll be sure to check it out. How long have you had diabetes for? I've been recently diagnosed with Type 2, and I'm trying to prepare myself and deal with it the best I can.

Think Like a Pancreas is the best book I have read since Dr Berstein's first book on diabetes. I cannot recommend it high enough. It is a real down to earth practical guide to living with D and how you can mange it and not have it manage you.

For a newly diagnosed diabetic, the book Blood Sugar 101 by Jenny Ruhl gives very frank, detailed and objective advice.
Another good book in addition to Think like a Pancreas, particularly for those first starting insulin, is Using Insulin, Everything You Need for Success With Insulin by John Walsh

"journey of a diabetic" by Lawrence Pray. an obscure book, maybe 20 years old. it is more about the life of a diabetic rather than the ins and outs. it is a great book if you can find it...

Hey Cameron - tons tons tons of great resources and the books below are great. There are also lots of online resources if you're not sure - I'd try Amazon.com and read the book reviews. Also for just general web resources, you can visit DiabetesActNow.org or any other non-profit group offering legit info for free (some do not, or else they're trying to sell you something). My favourite book is "The Type II Diabetes Sourcebook"

However as we are all individuals it's best to test and test your bgs until you know what foods are the best for you to eat.
