Thank you Stephen, for winning another good fight (with Kaiser of Northern California).

Just as I did with Wellpoint and it's myriad of "Blue Cross Blue Shield" DBA companies, you have taken on "big insurance" and force them to cover the device, setting a precedent for the PWDs who follow. Bravo!

United Healthcare (in NY/NJ area) covered it 100% and supplies too.

I just switched to Anthem BC but I don't start the plan until January, so will report back then!

Has anyone gotten it covered under BCBS of Alabama? We have the option through my Husbands work to stay with BCBS of A or switch to Aetna. I'm not sure which one would be the better option.

BCBS New York covered with no prior authorization as long as Dr provided requested docs and lab results, I'm covered until Jan 1 for 1 sensor a week usage (Dexcom system). For 19 year old daughter, she did need to get prior approval. Took about a month, but there was no denial letter, and she is covered until Jan 1 for 1 sensor a week as well.

We'll see what happens in Jan and when I attempt to get a systen for 11 year od, but right now, neither of my girls want to wear it full time, so I think sharing 2 systems between the 3 of us will work for now.

I have an Oxford HMO and they have covered my pump and supplies for 6 years. They have been paying for sensors for about a year with authorization.

Medica (state insurance plan) covered it 100% just found out today:) so excited dexcom all they needed was the doc authorization.

I originally was with Unicare (using BCBS network), but now with Aetna. Both through group insurance in a national coverage. My pump and CGMS are both covered under my plan's DME (durable medical equipment) and are covered at 100%. It really depends on your plan, as well as the company. However with that said, with Unicare it did take about a year to finally get it covered and get my reimbursements for the first order. I had to send months of blood test results, lab records and my doctor wrote an appeal. Now it goes much smoother.
