Doing a little show of hands here: where are the pumpers of Tu Diabetes>

Please state:
-Pump model: Medtronic Minimed 515.
-Since when you've been pumping: mid-2005
-Overall experience: I cannot imagine not using it.
-Would you recommend it to others: I would, though I would recommend it most to people comfortable with gadgets. However, even if you're not a gadget freak, it's worth learning to use it.

Pump model: Medtronic Minimed 723.
-Since when you've been pumping: Jan-2001
-Overall experience: Better control (though not perfect/convenience
-Would you recommend it to others: Yes, with some caveats--some cannot handle the technology.

I TRIED MY THIGH BUT COULD NOT SLEEP ON THAT SIDE.ALSO TRIED THE FRONT OF LEG BUT WHEN I SAT ON BUS WHERE DO I PUT MY BAG? ON BELLY IT IS PROTECTED.

Animas Ping since March 2012.
I'm still adjusting but way better control than MDI
I would recommend it to others

Pump model: Animas 1200
Since: June 2004
Overall experience: Loved it since day one.

Once you get used to it, it becomes a part of you and gives you much more flexibility. It takes work though. Get yourself totally familiar with it. Even then, it's not a cure, not even close, but it makes my life with T1 much easier.

Pump Model:Medtronic Minmed 723
Pumping Since April 10, 2012
Overall experence: So far so good I seem to have better numbers thus far
I would definately recommend to others who are comfortable with the idea and can get beyond the whole hooked up to something 24/7- that's what took me so long and now I'm like I don't really notice it most of the time.

medtronics 723
jan 2012
great love it
yes if you dont have one get one
A1c 7.6 to 6.2 in 90 days

Model: Omnipod
Since: late 2009?
Experience: Much more convenient, but definitely not easier. More technical and it forces you to pay closer attention to everything if you want to get the most benefit from the experience. I find it most helpful when exercising and turning of insulin delivery completely.
When something goes awry it's not as clear as to why, there are more variables. I can't be sure what the cause is; is it the sight, stress, absorption, not calculating right, wrong carb count? When taking shots I was always sure that I was at least getting the insulin but now I'm never sure.

Recommend?: I would recommend to anyone, if you can afford it, to at least give it a try but I agree, if you're not a gadget person and willing to put in the time and effort (I feel it takes more involvement than just shooting up according to a sliding scale.)then it probably wouldn't work.

My blood sugars have always been in good control, thus the reason for not switching until recently(T1, 36 years), but if and when I ever have to give up my pod, I will cry.

Pump model: Medtronic Minimed 523 Paradigm Revel
Sinc when you've been pumping: mid Nov 2011
Overall experience with it: Absolutely love it, best control I've ever had
Would you recommend it to others: Most definately, but its one of those things, its only as good as the person using it, and it takes work and is not a magic fix. But if people are willing and able to be dedicated and put the work into it, it is a wonderful tool that I highly recommend.

Please state:
-Pump model: Medtronic Minimed 723
-Since when you've been pumping: ~2.5 years ago
-Overall experience: Mixed. Mostly positive
-Would you recommend it to others: Probably. Depends on the person. The convenience is great, but there are many drawbacks as well. I'd also explain about auto off, infusion sets, pump failure, and not to expect too much from trainers. Also, Medtronic CGM was garbage, IMO.

minimed 522 since year 2000.wish i had done it sooner.love it.

Overall experience: Love it!
Recommend it? Absolutely! Makes things so much simpler for me!
