TuDiabetes - A Community for People Touched by Diabetes

I have had diabetes since 2002, so by some standards I am a newbie. By other standards, I've had diabetes quite a while

How many years have you or your loved one had diabetes? Let's pull out those calendars, people! :)

I was diagnosed in February 1986, so I'm coming up to 22 years with diabetes. I was on injections for 18 years then switched to the pump. At one point or another I've used NPH, Regular, Lente, Lantus, Humalog and currently Novolog. I think I'll stick with the Novolog :)
To answer Tara's question, I have never celebrated my anniversary. To be honest, I'm not sure when exactly in Feb. I was diagnosed.

I was dxd. at age 3, so I've had Diabetes for 46 yrs.
(I was also dxd. with severe RA at age 25).

I'd like to mention:

My oldest Brother was dxd. at age 4 and he had it for 48 yrs.

My youngest Brother was dxd. at age 4 so he had it for 45.5 yrs.
(He also had severe RA the last couple of yrs. but did not seek treatment).

*Olaf, I believe on this Forum you still have Diabetes the longest. Good Job. :o)
