I have two adorable beagles. who love to chew things.  This past weekend they got ahold of my  meter case, and totally ripped the zipper up.  I know that they make really neat looking cases, but don't have that kind of money to spend....so I went looking. What could I use to hold my meter and strips and lancet in that wouldn't cost a lot of bucks?????

I tried a makeup bag, not enough padding, a small purse, that's just another thing to put in my big bag.
One of the clerks suggested a small camera case. They are padded very well, and if you only need to carry those three things, they are perfect. I found a nice blue one, with enough room for my journal, also.
AND the price was right, for only $6.00, I got  a new bag and it's smaller than the old one. YIPEE.

My question or idea is, what alternative items do you use with your D to keep things interesting?  Or alternative ways of thinking about your D, we can always use new ideas.

A loaded water pistol and some negative reinforcement for the puppies.

Hey lets go chew mommy's tasty smelling stuff... SQUIRT...... lets go find her shoes instead, the smelly bag with
the tasty stuff in it is always a bad memory...!!!

A simple fanny pack will easily do the trick and padding is not necessary.

Seriously...
Waterbottling / waster pistol isn't the best choice. Too often you have to squirt more and more water on the animal for them to stop the behavior. Some dogs LOVE to be squirted too!! ...Like Labs in particular. Also this water technique only shows your dog to leave something alone when you are around (a huge problem with negative reinforcement). They are smart animals and know if you are not there, the negative reinforcement won't occur.

It's far better to teach your animal and praise them for leaving something alone. The 'leave it' command is wonderful and you don't have to carry around a water pistol everywhere you go :-) Eventually, the animal learns to leave the item alone regardless if you are there or not. There are many videos on youtube of this command.
I have found that if I accidently drop something my dog will look at me before touching it....just checking in with eye contact. And she is only just over a year old :-)

I'm sure you were tongue and cheek with your replay...but I wanted to make sure this was posted :-) I came across someone last weekend who rescued a puppy and told me why he took in the puppy. The negative reinforcement the prior owner was doing to stop the pup from barking was to duct tape the mouth shut. Puppy still barked when it was removed. Yes...VERY sick.
Call the company and have them send you a new meter with a new case.
Got a new meter from Lifescan and lots of new information. As for the pups, well, they are dogs, and I, me, Myself has to learn to put things over their jump so that they can't get them. Can't expect anyone without pups or untrained pups to understand that.....thanks!
I have never used the cases for my meters and now my Omnipod PDM. I just throw everything in a makeup bag and into my purse.
Evil Beagles!!!!!
Beagles are very wise animals, very sneaky, and full of "what's yours is mine"....People who look at their innocent faces, and their adorable eyes, don't realize this, but beagle owners will tell you, they can get into whatever it is they want. I am sure that mine sniffed the scent of old candies for use on low BS's and decided they had to have it.
Whose fault is that? Mine or theirs???? I totally take responsibility for leaving it where they could find it, get ahold of it, and rip the case to shreds...ah well, it's not the first thing that has gone the way of the beagle. Try walking into an appliance store and asking about refrigerators that are "beagle proof".....Gotta love 'em, either that or go crazy.
beagle proof refrigerators!??? so funny cathy!!!! we had a discussion similiar in nature a few days ago. my beagle rolled herself all over a dead bird. therefore, she required an emergency beagle bath...it wasn't the end of the world but it was a pain in the A** considering that i would have enjoyed a little time to relax instead. i would stare into her brown beagle eyes and her expressive beagle face and found it impossible to be mad at her. i realized these features were definitely a manipulation tactic inherent in the species. as they prevent us from clobbering them!
My little Italian Greyhound finds the scent of some bird droppings so sexy and loves to rub her face and neck in it. She also loves the resulting face scrubbing and drying. What are ya gonna do? They're dogs!
eewww...gross!
I know that was you speaking, not your precious pup.
I really try to scale down on what I carry; however necessary items take up sooo much space but I dare leave home w/o them! I use the small plastic bags that hold extra buttons on new clothes -1 holds 4 glucose tabs & 1 holds xtra batteries & fits in my case... I carry liquid glucose shot
