WEST CHESTER, Pa., June 2, 2011 – Animas Corporation announced today the receipt of CE Mark approval for Animas® Vibe™, the first and only continuous glucose monitoring (CGM)-enabled insulin pump system with Dexcom G4™ CGM technology. Animas® Vibe™ brings together the unique features of an Animas® insulin pump and the convenience of Dexcom CGM, which is the only sensor approved for up to seven days of wear.
As a CGM-enabled system, the Animas® Vibe™ insulin pump functions as a receiver for the Dexcom G4™ Sensor. The system delivers real-time glucose information, alerts for high and low readings, and glucose trend information, enabling patients to make more informed decisions to help control their disease*. Unlike currently available CGM-enabled pump systems, Animas® Vibe™ displays glucose trends in colour and is waterproof.**

I just got the Animas Ping about six weeks ago and I now want this so badly! I'll upgrade as soon as it comes to Canada, even though I'll have to pay out-of-pocket for everything (government and work benefits don't cover CGM sensors or anything). I hope it comes to Canada soon!!!

Like yourself I just got the Ping, long time MM Customer, super happy with the PIng, and looking forward to the Vibe, but it does not have a remote, thats 1 disadvantage. Just a heads up.

Wondering about the depth restrictions. Sensor is 8 feet; pump 12 feet. Both waterproof up to 12 hours. Would a depth of 12 feet cause that much more pressure to be exerted on the device, than at an 8 foot level. I believe swimming, diving, most pools are 12 feet in the deep end for diving purposes. Not sure if she would stay off the diving board. She does not wear a pump in the water currently.

I wonder what improvements there are in the Dexcom G4. It appears that the screen is slightly larger than on the Ping too. I still haven't decided if I want to give up my remote, wish I could have it all LOL

I dont use the ping remote - I cant read the screen, I really wish that they would add a color remote and have it as a CGM display. The dexcom is easier to view because it does not require me to pull the pump and tubing out of my pocket. I can keep the dexcom remote out for viewing when driving. I know bicyclists that mount the dex on their handlebars. I think the absence of a remote on this system is a big miss. Also for parents taking care of little ones, the remote would be awesomeI really like the dexcom being seperate from my pump so I probably wont upgrade unless they offer a remote. Having a remote w color display that controls the pump, displays the CGM and works as a meter would be awesome so the wait begins again

Ping already has a color remote with the improved buttons (harder to overshoot when your using the remote to bolus or enter numbers) display in the EU/Canada...
Perhaps they will still bring it out with the Vibe...Not sure if the remote will display the readings however..

As I understand it no remote with the Vibe - and the USA is still waiting on the color remote for the ping- But I don't think I would use the color remote unless it could integrate the dexcom display! Doesnot matter becau8se the Obama FDA is in gridlock :)

I have the colour remote for the Ping and it's fantastic. I don't think I would have gone with Animas if they hadn't come out with it when they did (right when I was trying to decide on a new pump). I use it all the time and love it!
I agree with you, I wish they had used the remote as a display for the CGM data. I also wish the remote could be used to set temporary basal rates. It'll be hard to choose between a remote and a CGM when this eventually makes it to Canada, but I think a CGM would help me so much that I might have to make the sacrifice. I figure I could still use the remote as an UltraSmart-type meter for its logbook features and download it to whatever software the new pump uses.
