It's usually brought on by cold but can also be triggered by stress. I have a family member with this condition and it is certainly disconcerting if you don't know what is happening. Something to look into anyway. Good luck.

I agree with Bathyscaph and Leo2, as it most likely being a case of Raynaud's.

When I was in my 20's, we were visiting our Relatives and everyone there stopped chatting and were just staring at me. I looked down and was shocked to see that both my hands were totally blue, like I was wearing blue gloves. I thought I was dying.

I was dxd. with Raynaud's and have only had my fingertips turn blue a few times after that incident.

I've had Raynaud's for almost 30 years. It happens to me quite frequently, but it freaked me out the first few times! My episodes usually involve one or two fingers and/or a few toes. The blood flow becomes constricted and they turn white and lose all feeling. Usually running them under hot water brings them back and then they turn a very dark purple before returning to normal. If you do a search here on TuD I think you'll find it's not that uncommon for diabetics to also have Raynaud's. I seem to recall a thread or two about it from the past six months or so.
