Canadian Pharmacies that Export to US
Hello:
My insurance only covers $500 a year in medications. Since I go through 2 or 3 bottles of humalog a month, that means I hit my upper limit within the first month. I am trying to import some Humalog from a Canadian pharmacy, because they are cheaper than paying the $150 I would have to pay here.
However, a few weeks ago, I tried to buy from one pharmacy (www.bigmountaindrugs.com aka canadadrugsonline.com, blueskydrugs.com, and canadapharmacyonline.com). I paid them $260 or so for 10 bottles of Humalog. They sent me insulin that was labelled as Humalog but was in fact Regular. (I called them up to complain, and they told me I was imagining things. I told them I'd been diabetic for most of my life, and I know when I'm taking Regular. They basically called me a sucker and said there was nothing I could do about it.)
So, anyway, now I am trying to find a good, reputable, reliable Canadian pharmacy that someone has used and knows will send me humalog (and not Regular that is labelled as Humalog). Does anyone have any good experience with this? Any information would help.

When you do a search for Canadian pharmacy, that's not always what you get. I ordered metformin from a "Canadian" pharmacy online and it was shipped from India. The product was fine, but I got at least 100 spam emails for Viagra the next day. I just wish all this BS would stop already. CanadaDrugs.com has a poor reputation, too.

Ok, if you did buy from bigmountaindrugs.com, they are listed by CIPA as a member. That behavior is not consistent with being a licensed or being a member of CIPA. If the bottle is marked as humulin R rather than humalog, they made a mistake and need to make it right. You need to be clear that this is actually a mistake, rather than a possible batch of bad humalog. If the humalog simply got warm and is lost potency, that is different than getting the wrong prescription. Getting a wrong prescription and a tough luck is a major offense. A claim of warmed over insulin is a disagreement.
Your hammer is that you will complain to CIPA and to the canadian drug licensing authorities. You can look up the province where they are located and find the licensing authority and make a complaint. If they are reputable, then the mere mention that you are prepared for file a complaint will be enough to assure that they comply.
Also, if you paid by credit card (which is a good idea), you can file a dispute with your credit card company that you did not get the goods promised and you can win. I understand the concern about cost, it is very important, but we can take serious risks buying from anonymous unknown sellers and we need to do our research we don't get ripped off and we need to be able to handle these sorts of things.

I actually called up the licensing authorities, and they told me that it was an online pharmacy that listed itself as being licensed, even though it actually wasn't. They told me they received a lot of complaints about the online pharmacies, but there wasn't really anything they could do. (Though I contacted the regional pharmacy association. I have left a message at CIPA to see if they have any input.)

Did you call the licensing authorities in BC? You need to call the authorities in the place that they are physcially doing business, namely Surrey, BC. And CIPA will act if bigmountaindrugs does not have a license.
Did you contact your credit card company?

I have never ordered insulin from them, but I have ordered thyroid meds from Universal Drugstore - I heard about them on a thyroid board. I have used them for almost 2 years now and have only ever had 1 problem. They started shipping their thyroid meds from New Zealand and when I was told that mine might come from there, I told them I only wanted mine from Canada. The person I talked to told me that she would mark my account that way. She didn't and my next order came from New Zealand. I didn't want them because I had heard there were problems with it not being as potent. Even though they insisted it was the same stuff, they replaced them.
They can be annoying because even though you order online, they call you in the evening & leave a message you have to call them back for every order. They said they have to verify it but it is annoying when it is the same script, same name, same address, same phone number and same address. I can see verifying it once but not every time. I keep ordering from them because they have the best price & I know what I am getting. I can put up with the annoying phone calls!

If your in Juneau, is there anyway to get to Prince Rupert? Is it worth the cost of the trip in savings? I know that lots of people from Washington State come across the line to B.C pay the walk in clinic Dr to write the prescription which is about $50.00 for the Dr visit. Then they get it filled at any pharmacy before heading back to the USA.
I really feel bad for you having to put up with that dishonesty with internet companies it's hard to say where they are actually located. We are talking about peoples health, it just wrong to not give people what they order
Anyways I doubt Im much help to you, I guess you really just have to research to internet site for customer input till you find one that actually has a good customer response.
I still don't get why the USA charges people so much for the medications ! Some one is making BIG bucks.
