Interesting. Personally, while I respect high school students and their energy and intelligence, I would be concerned that they would receive enough information to "teach DM in community programs". Teaching implies a degree of expertise that doesn't come overnight. I personally think it would be more valuable to have PWD's who are knowledgeable act in this capacity.

Hi, what are PWD's . The program is just a start. Each student continues to learn and role model, healthy living, answers to the hard questions of healthy food choices, regular movement. I was really hoping to see some of the students by now on this forum.Thank you for reading and asking questions. I look forward to your answers.

PWD's are People with Diabetes. People who know what it is like to manage Diabetes 24/7 and whether they are Type 1 or Type 2, that is a very complex process. I also question when I see something purporting to "educate on diabetes" because type 1 and 2 are very different conditions and "general diabetes education" is either just that....waaaaay too general, or it is pretty much geared to type 2's since they are the largest population. (Though not by as much as once thought. It used to be thought to be 90/10, and it is actually more like 75/25.
