Another slap in the face from fate! I got a call from my sister who lives in New Jersey and she toild me that she was in Wisconsin for the last two weeks. She had been admitted to Waukesha Memorial in WI. Her Potassium was way too low and her calcium was way too high (or vice versa!). I knew she was here for a none-to-pleasant reason and asked her for the reason she was calling.

My Dad is back in the hospital and they were looking for a hospice room. MY DAD IS DYING and they don't expect him to last more than a week or two. His heart isn't working right, his adult leukemia is back and he has stage 3 renal failure. I can't say that it's unexpected but, when the time comes, it's still hard to cope with it.

The hospital will not let me out to visit him for a few hours. They say I have too many health problems to let me go. I would have to check out AMA and then Medicare wouldn't pay for my stay!! Besides, I'm supposed to have surgery tomorrow. But I don't know if I will because my blood is "too thin." It takes too long to clot.

Life is really taking a dump on me. My head is spinning with all the cra* piled on top of it! I don't know how to cope with all this.

Hey Lois, glad your surgery is done, hope that it heals in super quick time so you can escape.
I shall try to send a card this week but heck knows when it'll arrive as it's coming to you from the UK x x x
Keep us updated. Lots of love, Jan
Dear, dear Lois, you are right, life is taking a big dump on you right now. My father died this summer, the day before my birthday, and it was tough.... and I am sure from your post this isn't going to be easy for you either.. my heart and soul go out to you, and my prayers.

Lois, you need to think about what is best for your health also. If your father raised such wonderful women like you and your sister, he wouldn't want you to risk your health for him. Can you call him? I am 360 miles from where my father was, and couldn't get to him.....it was very hard, but those phone calls were what we had and we burned up the wires and cyberspace.
Call often, talk as much as he can bear and you can bear. If you don't get to have surgery tomorrow for your own health reasons, then see of you can go. But, what would your dad want you to do? Would he want you to risk your health and welfare to visit him? Think about that part.

It's not fair, it's not right, it's life, we don't write the pages, we live them....my prayers are with you, please talk to us when you are feeling down and out...we are here for you....

Hello Y'all:

I appreciate each and every one of you. All your calls, cards, gifts, thoughts and, most of all, your prayers have gone a long, long way to making this horrible ordeal easier for me. Even got a proposal of marriage; but I don't think a long distance marriage will work out --- like, who will do the housework and who will do the grocery shopping?

For some of those who missed it, I did have the graft surgery [on the left foot]. The DRs don't think I will need it on the right foot because it's healing well and may be too small to want to go through all the mess.

I had to restart hyperbaric treatments for about five days after surgery and then be reevaluated. They are making noises like they want to get me out of here. The sooner, the better. Then I guess it's back to the nursing home/ rehab center.

Better go for now. Suppertime.

Lois
Hey Lois.. I just wanted to say that I am thinking of you. I hope you are doing well. I may not be on here much, but please know that you are always in my thoughts and prayers. Love ya! *hugs*
I forgot I wanted to ask how your family is doing. I hope they are improving as well. <3 <3

How do you measure the work of volunteers?

329,040 minutes, 329,040 moments so dear. 329,040 minutes — How do you measure, measure volunteers? In smileys, in tears shed, in counsel, in cups of coffee. In units, in carb counts, in laughter, in strife. In 329,040 minutes – how …
