Since April, I have lost 35 lbs, safely and under CDE. My pic is when I was at my worst. With the diet changes, came the lows. Last week I had no tabs or milk, which is I what I usually do when I go below 60. I did have in my van an old 2 oz. bottle of Dex4 liquid. I have never used one. Took it, and 20 minutes later I was spinning! BS went up like a rocket to 300! Pump alarms went crazy. Whoa! Anyone have this happen? I will never use Dex4 liquid again.

I only use tabs so don't have a comment on the Dex4 liquid. How many carbs are there supposed to be in a 2oz bottle?

Monitored my basals very carefully over eight months and have adjusted as instructed by the CDE. Now down to just 1 unit/hr. At one time using 3 units/hr. And feeling better and getting better sleep. I think one bottle is equal to 4 tabs, but being in liquid form I think it hits me faster. Still on the diet (tough at XMAS), but will be normal weight in about a month.
Permalink Reply by still_young_at_heart on February 12, 2012 at 6:11pm I agree with bsc that something was going on. 16 carbs will raise me maybe 80 points after everything hits. You have to triple that to hit 300 from 60.
May you never have a repeat!

I think I figured it out. An empty stomach. Just the Dex4 and a diet Pepsi to wash it down. It was quite a few hours since I ate anything and walked about 20-30 min before.
Permalink Reply by Trudy on February 12, 2012 at 1:00pm I use Dex 4 Liquid despite it's taste because it's so easy to carry around, and I do better with liquids rather than with anything solid. I've never had such strange results as you describe. I have to wonder if anything else is going on?
Permalink Reply by Brian (bsc) on February 12, 2012 at 1:38pm This doesn't really make sense. Something else must be going on. I thought the dex4 liquid was 15g of carbs, that hardly seems enough to cause that rise. I'm a big guy, I only rise 2-3 mg/dl per gram of carbs. That sounds really weird.
