I know someone who is Diabetic, he looks fine, why does he worry so much?
Here is a good one. My husband has had diabetes for 51 years, pretty good shape. Works out, eats low fat meals. My overweight friend tells me "Diabetics should always eat whole grain". Other people have said "should he be eating that piece of cake"?

20 years ago when I was diagnosed with T1, my doc sent me to the usual newbie class to get educated. I swear, as the "teacher" assumed her position at the podium, these were the words she spoke:
"Don't worry! After taking this class, I promise you, you will be able to eat a piece of pie once a month!"
I snuck out the side door during the first break.
I just love reading everyone's answers. I got a new one the other day. Someone who knows me well said "You should eat xxxx. It's high in Omega3s". Ah, what's an Omega3? This person had NO idea what it is. Another comment for the list.

"If you lose weight your diabetes will probably go away." My BMI is 24.something, and I'm LADA. Soooo bugs me. Does anyone know of a good, concise, easy-to-read explanation that includes the genetic factor in T1 & T2?
