Thanks for the tip! I called my local Walgreens and confirmed that they are having a diabetes wellness event on November 11. They verified that I can get a free A1c test and receive the result immediately. It's on my calendar now. Good find.

Terry, So, the result from both the free blood glucose test and the A1C test will be available immediately? Lucy

Lucy -- Yes, they told me both the BG test and A1c test would be available right away. I presume that the A1c takes a minute or so. One of my former endos used to do the A1c in the office and could give a result immediately.

Hi Terry, First, I'm anticipating an improvement in my A1c and looking forward to getting a peek at how I'm doing from Novo Nordisk/Walgreens in mid-November. Thanks, for passing on the additional info that both test results--BG test & A1c--would be available right away.

Lucy, I have been on a continuous glucose monitor since September 4. I had an A1c result after 30 days on the CGM and my A1c dropped 0.2%. I was hoping for a better result but its definitely moving in the right direction. So I'm using this free A1c to get a 60 day look at my status. If my CGM numbers translate to the A1c then I should be heading toward a 6.4% number.

Cool!! Thanks for the info. I checked on-line and the event closest to me takes place on Fri. November 13th.

I'm so excited. I just ordered an A1cNow kit last night. Unfortunately, I think they're only available on-line at this point. Has anyone seen them in a store? @ ~$30.00 for 2 tests I think it's a wonderful product. But, I'm curious as to how accurate they are.

Kait just had labs run on Fri Nov 7th and I wanted to take her A1c with this Beyer A1cNow kit as well - to check the accuracey of the product - but I couldn't find it in a store. Has anyone had the opportunity to check its accuracy?

anyway, thanks for the info...

I've been happily looking forward to this; test in my area is on November 19th! Yes, Kait's mom, you can buy the home tests in stores, I saw them at Walgreen's I think it was $20 something, not sure if it's one or two tests.

Regarding accuracey of the product, as I posted below: "Testing in my area is on Tues., Nov. 17th., and I intend to go for the A1C test. On Nov. 7th. I was one of five attendees at a diabetes talk sponsored by my endo's office to win an A1C test as a door prize. The result of my test was immediately shared with me--so I'm looking forward to comparing that most recent A1C result with the upcoming result from Walgreens. Notably, the results will be less than two weeks apart."

However, I don't know the brand name of the A1C test kit that my endo's office used as part of their door prizes or the one Walgreens is using in their promotion.

I went yesterday. 9.2! What the heck, that is the highest it has ever been. I just went on the pump so I knew that it would be higher (still tweaking). The time before that 7.9 (pre-pump) and 7.4. I definitely know that the stress of a divorce is also spiking my sugars.

The Walgreens A1c only took five minutes and I was in and out in about 10 minutes.
