I was fairly newly diagnosed and was shopping with a friend. I had dosed too much insulin for my lunch and started feeling low. I ate candy as we walked and felt the need to sit. We passed a bench that was occupied by some guys, I started to black out and next thing I knew, I was sitting on the bench and the guys were standing. Seeing my bag of candy, one of them asked if I was having blood sugar issues. I asked if he was an EMT and he replied, "No, but I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night." (Apologies to long time members who have heard this story before.)

I've probably told this story before, but it's the one that always gets told when someone asks about funny diabetes moments. I had low blood sugar, and I got out of bed and went to sit at my computer. It was early afternoon (on weekends I generally get up to eat breakfast and then go back to bed until lunch.) I couldn't sit on my computer chair without falling off. My boyfriend got up and found me sitting on the floor. He asked me if I had eaten lunch. My cat Calli happened to wander over to find out why Mummy was sitting on the floor, and I picked her up. I asked, "Is Calli lunch?" Boyfriend said, "No, Calli is NOT lunch! Give me Calli. GIVE ME CALLI!!" Calli was all confused and going "Meow? Meow?" Boyfriend took her away from me and put her outside, telling her, "I don't think it's safe for you to be around Mummy right now, Calli." Then he got me a glass of juice or pop or something.

oh man i have one.

i told it in a blog i did a few months ago or weeks i don't remember. anywho. I was in high school and a few friends of mine and I decided we were going to see a movie. I decided i wanted to get some dinner since i didn't have any dinner. anyway, I dosed what i thought would be a good dosage for the meal i would eat in the theater and went in with my food. about 15 minutes later we were all sitting there still waiting for the movie to start and i knew i was feeling low so i started grabbing for my friends drink, she looked at me and pointed to my drink which was sitting next to me (her drink was a regular coke) and she said "no Melissa, you have your own drink." I kept grabbing for her drink and again "no you have your own." so i gave up and started eating my food then dropped it in my lap. the rest is stuff my friends would tell and now it's a running joke with all of us. i still don't know what my BG was.

Walking into a night club/bar with a syringe behind my ear... then arguing with the bouncers why I needed to bring it into the club/bar.... hey, my friends always thought it was funny. 16 years later and all grown up, I would never do such a thing ;^)

oh, one more (these are just off the top of my head, Melissa I might respond many times to this discussion).. taking the needle off the syringe and (pretend) sticking my ex-girlfriend with it... we would laugh and laugh and laugh ... oh to be young wild and free again.

I had to walk through a metal detector with my insulin pump in my bra, security guard waved wand in front of me and beeping was at my boobs, I told him what it was and he said ok, ok ,go ahead

i was shopping wid my frnd at star(sumthin lyk wal mart) and i started feelin low so i sat on the steps and tod my sis to get me sumthing to drink. she finally comes back aftr 15 mins with a bottle of diet coke and as a way of explanation said u never drink normaal coke wat can i do/ i cant see ur mind?
