changed my mind about what I wrote earlier...

whatever amount per day (TDD) your basal on your pump was, that MIGHT need to be increased ROUGHLY by 20% when using a long acting insulin.

Like Morgan said, use your I:C ratios, same as for giving pump boluses, for your mealtime shots.

check with your doc for specific instructions.

some folks split lantus doses and others do just one shot per day. can't help you there.

i just went off my minimed to lantus and humalog. my total daily basal was 30 so i was told by my endo to split it and take 15 units of lantus in the morning and 15 units of lantus at night. However she said to start off a little less to make sure so i started with 13 units and now im up to 14 units twice a day. for the humalog i just kept my CHO ratios the same. Hope this helps good luck!

If you're interested in getting pods sooner (I was in much the same boat two weeks ago!), call your local omnipod rep. Mine wasn't able to just "hand" me spare pods because they're technically pumps, but she was able to leave five at my CDE's office for me to come pick up. Didn't cost me a thing and it saved me those last two weeks before my new insurance was able to approve a new shipment.
