There is too much focus on what we can't eat and the sweets we miss. I thought it might be an idea to focus on those treats and products that are made for us and meet our needs. To start I found Jelly Belly sugar free jelly beans, Sweet 'n Low hard candies (coffe flavors and butterscotch), Murry's cookies (similar to Oreos, shortbreads, and lemon sandwich), Gucerna (Chocolate Peanutbutter snack bars and Chocolate Chunk meal bars) and the whole line of EXTENDbars.

We buy Shoprite's house brand of popcorn and make it in a heavy sauce pan on the stove. The Shoprite is as good as the expensive premium brands. Try these flavor variations. Add a small amount of Old Bay Spice (famous in Maryland) for a spicey flavor. Sprinkle a mix of cinnamon, sweetener and a little salt for a sweet flavor.
Your post has done nothing but make me very hungry. I want chocolate, peanut butter, sun spread, Liz's peanut butter and cocoa, the special root beer, etc. It's making me crazy!
Haha! Me too! I want Cookie Dough Ice Cream - which would so never be low carb. When someone invents that someday, we will know we have arrived. :)
Abbott Labs makes Glucerna bars that I really appreciate. The ingredients especially the chocolate is very nice. Try their Carmel Nut snack bars (really Chocolate peanut butter), 4oz 150 calories and very small glycemic response.
Something extra I like that work in my eating plan: Skinny Cow ice cream bars and sandwiches - Mmmmmmm!

The local fruit and veg stand is my favorite spot to find great treats right now - heritage tomatoes, all manner of exotic fruits and veg, and just really great fresh stuff. I love shopping for food this time of year!
While many on here avoid fruits, I love them and eat a lot, usually in combo with either cheese or wh wh crackers or peanut butter. Currently we have fresh strawberries and blueberries so I am having those berries over a piece of angel food cake and almost no calorie cool whip. I know some of you are shaking your head but this is actually a fairly low calorie dessert. You could of course have it without the cake and cut it even further. Otherwise, apples, pears, bananas, etc all help me deal with my sweets craving and are healthy foods. But each to his/her own. I am also an ice cream aholic but haven't bought any in about 6 months. The person a few pages back talking about Blue Bell ice cream made me interested though!
Does eating fruits with cheese, peanut butter or other fat make it better in terms of BG? I love fruits too, and like you, love love ice cream. I wish I could incorporate more fruits into my diet, so anything would help. So far I have combined 1/4 cup of blueberries with low carb yogurt (4g CHO) and put a big scoop of Superseeds by Garden of Eden in it and then a bunch of walnuts or pecans.

For ice cream, I'm thinking of buying my own ice cream maker and making my own low carb ice cream at home because like the comments here, the so-called no sugar added ice creams actually have lots of sugar alcohols and carbs in it. I've tried Breyer's no sugar added, Edy's no sugar added but I get scared of reading the back of the labels with tons of unpronounceable chemicals in them.
By the way, OP, if you want low carb ready snacks ideas, I like Lindt 85% dark -- four huge squares of chocolate is only 8grams of CHO with 3g of fiber. Fiber One Oat Bran 57% cereal is good with Blue Diamond unsweetened almond milk (2g CHO per cup). Two cups of popcorn with extra butter or cheese never did that damage to me. I also like Pepperidge Farm Carbstyle breads with peanut butter (usually 2 tbs only 6g CHO) for snacks. Plain greek yogurts or Dannon Light & Fit Carb Control yogurts (4g CHO). Or sometimes I'll have a Starbucks venti iced coffee with half and half and whipped cream. The last one is the most filling mid-afternoon snack for me =)
I am not sure! I think the proteins & fats help slow down the absorption of the carbs. My endo always tells me to eat a dessert, if any, at mealtime rather than as a snack alone for that reason. That is my story and I am sticking to it. My BG does ok if I get the ratio right for the carbs. Oh yes, I add nuts to many fruits also!
Apples are great raw and cooked. I make them sauted to go with pork chops. I bake them stuffed with a few raisins and walnuts using diet coke as a liquid that thickens and makes a nice sauce.
My Aunt is diabetic and she goes in to a panic sometimes when she does forget her lunch and it is hard for her to find food that will not affect her in a negative manner. She is very, very active and I was doing some research on her behalf for something she could carry around with her just to get her over that hump and it was almost impossible until I came across this product called Quest Protein Bar.

I was a little skeptical at first, I mean we all see thousand of these bars in the store, but decided to order a couple of bars…WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! And I gave my Aunt a bar to try and…WOW!!! WOW!! WOW!!!
Just to be safe we took her Blood Sugar Level first thing in the morning, she ate half a bar..nothing changed…she finished the bar..nothing changed…her Blood Sugar Level did not spike, she had not ill-effect from the product and the bar tasted delicious.

This is something she keeps in her purse, her car and it gives her that little sense of security that she now has a healthy, safe snack.
I am not big on the sugar free foods-my system doesnt "handle them too well" if you know what I mean. Diet coke 2x a week sometimes, but sugar subsitutes are horrible. I can deal with my Stevia from the makers of Sugar in the Raw on the weekends in my tea--that I used before my diagnosis. Occasionally I will have 4 oz of regular soda and fit it in to my carb counting routine. I had a half of egg clair for Easter with no problem of spiking-guess the innerds with custard helped. But forget about jellys-oh god how awful they are!!! If I really want it I will save some carbs for just that.
