I am going to loose my medical insurance coverage in 19 days (September 1st)

On that day it will be gone period.

My family was covered, and it was decent insurance. (My wife, myself our two teenaged kids were covered)

COBRA plan only kicks in IF anybody who was on the company's health plan previously stills buys it at the end of the month. Very small company less than 10 people and nobody can afford the coverage, none will use it and keep the plan active. IF the health plan is not used cobra coverage does not activate. Ten people have said no.

Need HELP my diabetic friends, my peers... can somebody help us sort through the issues today.

PLEASE. I cannot stop the tears...

I have been taught despair.

I don't know if this will help any, but there is a form on the White House website to help find options in your state. On the lower right hand side, you will see the form & you can plug in your state. Good luck!

Well, it is less than optimal, but you may be able to trigger COBRA by accepting a qualifying event, like having a reduction in hours. I believe that once COBRA has triggered, a later increase in hours would not invalidate the COBRA coverage. I know that is a really sucky suggestion and I'm sorry for making it.
I'd suggest in the meantime go to any of the websites for the pharmaceutical companys and see if they have any programs to help for those with no insurance, if they don't offer any I'd call the companies directly...see what they can offer. Also I'd check into clinics in your area that are pay-based...see if anything like that is available. I mean while income wise people may have adequate income to pay for medical care "WITH" insurance...but god knows diabetes is even with insurance a huge medical expense. I know one of the health clinics around here where I live at at one time...even offered prescription medicines at the clinic at a discounted price based on your ability to pay. Other suggestions depending on what medications you take if you are on oral medications your doctors office may even have samples of them. Best advice I can offer as having worked in a medical office for several years, be honest about your situation and whats going on. They may very well be able to direct you to places for assistance, or may reduce the price of their services, or work out payment arrangements. Good luck, I can certainly understand and sympathize with what you are going through.

I'm not super familiar with COBRA, but I'd look into it and anyway possible that I might be able to apply for it, doesn't hurt to check out the suggestion above by bsc. One thing with health insurance companies as an adult some May or May NOT cover pre-existing conditions right away. If at all possible, by any means try to maintain coverage if you can. Sorry I wish I had a better solution.
