how to read lab results

does any one know what THY AB (TPO) is?

Thanks Gerri and Kelly!! Great info!! I did check out the site and will go with plenty of questions and requests for bloodwork. I need all the info I can get and lots of prayers!!

Looks like I'm in the same boat as your daughter. I just got my TSH level test back and it was 19.4, and my TPO 20.3). My doctor was scratching her head "but males aren't supposed to become hypothyroid" dufus (lol) I guess the male species can get Hasimoto's LOL!!

They started my out on Synthroid 50mcg, for now. we'll see how it goes. thanks

We had more labs done and her FT3, FT4 and TSH are all within normal range right now. She does have the high TPO antibodies but until it starts to affect her thyroid numbers or she has symptoms we dont treat. They will recheck every 6 months.

Thanks for the update. Hope treatment is a long ways off. Glad she doesn't have hypothyroid symptoms.

Happy to have helped some. Thyroid is so blasted complex. Feel like I take one step forward & three steps back trying to understand. I recently had Reverse T3 tested & that's another can of worms.
