263. UGH. SHIT. Having a rough day so I got a bag of cookies and ate them. Now I have a massive headache and its at 263 already. It's still going to go up. Time for some Novolog. Why did I do this? ARGH.

I think it's natural to have a "goof" day every now and again. Just try to hold onto the memory of how this feels the next time you want to reach. I don't know if this helps but we have things like Doritos or cookies in the house every now and again for my completely infuriatingly normal husband, and I put a sticker/label on it with whatever my last high reading was when I cheated with it before. So if I grab that bag of Dorito's and see it says 284 BG, I'll most likely put it down. Not always of course, but it's kinda like a speed bump.

Hope your day got much better, and I hope you feel better. Chin up!
the sticker hint is fantastic!

it's always best if you can keep the stuff out of the house
Sometimes I look forward to the lows just because I can grab that bag of Doritos
I can't believe you ate a bag of cookies. Blah! I thought this was a myth. I don't ever in my Life remember wanting to eat more than 5 cookies. Sorry that your day was a rough one. Hopefully things have gotten Better for you Chuck including your poor tummy.
If it makes you feel any better, a bag of cookies puts me in the 400's or 500's!!! That's not a hypothetical, that's a known fact.

I'm now resolved that if I'm gonna send my bg into the stratosphere by eating junk, it better be good-tasting junk, not just a bag of cookies!

Others here might try to ascribe some "damage" due to every reading above 140 or something, but I am much more long-term in my focus.

Tim.
Because you are human. Don't beat yourself up just shoot to adjust and move on.
i understand beating yourself up....but, please stop it. its a moment, not your full experience. you now know how it makes you feel and need not do it again..

btw....i probably could have eaten TWO bags of cookies....lol
I've been diagnosed for 3 years now and sometimes it drives me crazy!!! After 3 years of injections, occasionally I'll still start eating before I inject. I'll remember after I take the first bite, but I'll feel worse about it because it was really nice to forget diabetes for a moment.
Next time you try cheating, just take some novolog before you eat it to counteract it ;) That way if you do spike, it won't be nearly as much.
Chuck, you are a person after my own heart. See cookie, want cookie, eat cookie. I try not to keep stuff around the house but the nondiabetics here love their sweets. It is easier to bolus before you do it instead of chasing that high all night.
Aw so sorry!

Why did you do it? Because you are human and we are not perfect.

Although, I'll tell you, you made my day - just by reading the title of your post and those first three words "263, UGH. SHIT", I started cracking up!

Not that I am laughing at you but the way you said it - made me giggle for some reason. :)

And nothing like a low number to make one think "Hmm maybe I can sneak in that ice cream bar at the end of my meal". Yum! :)
