Mike S asked the perennial question on lancet re-use in the Insulin-pumpers forum. I thought a more specific question in a wider forum might help those who worry about infection from re-using lancets.

Anyone who has ever re-used a lancet is welcome to respond. My own answer is No.

Q. Have you ever had an infected finger or alternate test site which was stated by your doctor to be caused by lancet re-use?

A: Yes or No. If yes, please give details.

No but I change my lancet every morning with the ACCU-CHEK Multiclix.

Never infected and always reuse; over and over and over and............

no infections and i never change the lancet...for about 24 years now...i just wait until i get a new pricker

I have never had an infection. I change my lancets semi-occasionally.

No infections & I use the lancet for a few weeks until I think it's hard to get a sample. In 50 years I've only ever had 1 infection from shots, years & years ago.

My answer is no. And I can't remember when I last changed my lancet.

it's so gross to think about, but no infection! I did get a nail bed infection from biting my nails once, though! I cut out that habit pretty quick!

No, never and I re-use lancets often.

My answer is No too.

Nope...and I always re-use

Progress Count:

Yes: 0
No: 41

I think the question is resolved in the negative :)

I may repeat the poll next St Swithun's Day

Except that I don't know what St. Swithun's Day is, except that you say it's July 15. The Ides of July?
