I was laid off a year ago and my health insurance expires the end of February. I wear an OmniPod. I have not been able to find a company to insure me because of my type 1 diabetes. Does anyone know how to get insurance or how to get pods and insulin supplies at a reduced rate?

Jean, Massachusetts is one of the states that requires everyone to have insurance or be fined. I wished when I lived in NY they had that! I lost my COBRA in June of 08 and had no insurance until I moved back to MA. When I was on COBRA, I had to pay 585.00/month. With the commonwealth care I have, I do not have any premiums as its a state managed care medicaid.

Perhaps the OP can look into Medicaid of some sort?
The ADA has a program for prescription assistance: www.TogetherRxAccess.com
I would try the county or state free or sliding scale clinics to get medical care. They probably already work with the pharmaceutical companies' Patient Assistance Programs like Lilly Cares. You will need a a prescription and doctor's signature to get free meds and supplies. http://needymeds.org is a site with all the information you need to get started.
ask your original insurance company if they have cobra. I'm get back w/ you later on what 2 do about supplies. Forecast Magazine listed links and numbers for companies that will don't or sell supplies (low cost).
Try to register for medicaid in your state. You can do it on line. They will pay for pump supplies
Hey, I don't know about the things you use but for my Lantus I called them and they hook me up with a six months supply every 6 months.
