Clerk gives robber $40 of his own for insulin
‘I hate to do this,’ man with gun says, then thanks victim for money

FORT SMITH, Ark. - A convenience store clerk wouldn't open the register for a robber but gave the man $40 from his own pocket after the robber told him he needed the money for insulin.

Police were called Monday night to the E-Z Mart, where the clerk explained that a man he didn't know entered the store and lifted his shirt to display a pistol tucked in his waistband.

The clerk said the man told him, "I hate to do this," and told him he needed $40 from the register.

The clerk said money in the register wasn't his to give. It was then the robber said the money was for insulin. The robber accepted the money from the clerk's wallet, thanked him and shook his hand.

Police are searching for the robber

Oh my, I wonder when they catch him will they have mercy and consider his medical condition!!! Hope so!?
But this is really sad! I wish if I could help him, please people if anyone need help just ask for it, am sure you will find someone to help you out don't go into the wrong direction to find it.
If he just stopped by here and asked for it, I will be the first one to send him the $40!!

I really hope this wasn't the only option he had. I hope he just didn't know about some other way. The good news, if any, is while he is in prison his meds are covered. Armed robbery typically means jail even if it is his first offense.

If I had a gun and went to all the bother of pointing it at someone, I'd make sure to ask for more than $40.
