TuDiabetes - A Community for People Touched by Diabetes

Lucile K.

My medicine cabinet is starting to look like my parents' house. What medications & supplements do you take?

I take one baby aspirin for inflammation; Januvia for diabetes; 2 T ground flaxseed to try to lower LDL cholesterol (I'm borderline; however, because I have diabetes, my primary care doc recommended a statin medication like Lipitor if the flaxseed doesn't lower my LDL); multi vitamin; just started taking "Resvinatrol Complete" (contains powerful antioxidants plus supports cardiovascular health, immune system & cholesterol levels ("These statements have not been evaluated by the food & Drug Admin.") --'cause Dr. Oz recommends the stuff and I fear Januvia is going to give me cancer; and I drink a lot of tea for the antioxidants. Best regards, Lucy

I don't take much really. Echineacea for my immune system and some cod liver oil capsules, that's about it.

Let's see...this is going to make me look like an old man.

Ramipril 10mg 2x a day (ACE inhibitor)
Zocor 20mg a day (statin)
Norvasc 1x a day (forget how much...calcium channel blocker for hypertension)
Co-enzyme Q10 to counter the Q10 depletion caused by Zocor
Multivitamin
Baby aspirin

I have the Adagio TriniTEA tea maker and I drink a ton of black and white tea every day.

(I was taking R-alpha lipoic acid, bitter melon extract, gtf chromium, & biotin - I did see better bg levels when I took these, but was paying $100/month for supplements)
