Last night, we rolled it out silently. I am glad you guys saw it. :)

Here are a couple of screenshots showing how it works:

If you click on the little speaker-like icon, you can turn on or off notifications (they sound like quiet beeps) when someone writes something in the chat window.

If you want to have a private chat with someone, you can do so by clicking on the member's name in the list to the right (refer to the screenshot above).

As you can see it looks a lot like the chat on Facebook and it will keep improving in the coming weeks.

Just so you know, if you click the buddy icon on the chat to go offline/online, it only affects your status for the chat. You will still be signed in to TuDiabetes.

Also, you can ONLY participate in the chat IF you are signed in to TuDiabetes. If you are not signed in, you cannot even see the chat going on.

LAST and VERY important, if you observe ANY kind of suspicious behavior going on in the chat window, please report it to the Admin team by sending an email to admin AT tudiabetes DOT org. Please include a screenshot (here are instructions on how to take screenshots) with your message.

the pop out doesn't work in Safari :(

Check your popup settings: most likely that is what's causing it to not show.

I've never done this. How do you make it appear on the chat site?

Just click on the bar at the bottom that says "TuDiabetes - A community for People... (XY members online)" and it will appear.

just a note, it cuts off parts of your convo when you type. So just be aware that your whole thought may not show up. Also if you post a link, it will be cut off. Also if you are on late night with Craig, tmana & I, dont mind out silly convos we have :-D.

I have noticed it. I have brought this up to Ning's attention, so they may correct it.
