Hello friends,
I am 39 years of age and got diagnosed with type 2 in 2007, now recently my blood sugar has been going up since june 2011, so i decided to ask my family doctor to see an Endocrinologist. I also noticed that i was losing weight. I was 200lbs right before getting diabetes, now i am 162 lbs and 5'11.
When i saw the endo, she said that i might have lada 1.5 because i am very thin and i am taking more insulin, bolus:18 units and basal:18 units
She also removed metformin, glyburide and crestor out of my prescription and kept Fluvoxamine for mild anxiety and Synthroid for my hypothyroidism which began in 2004.
My HA1C% is 11
My Blood sugar spikes a lot faster now, right after a meal and i get blurry vision and dizziness at times. The worst feeling i got so far was last saturday when i went to a dinner with friends and i had 2 pints of beer before my meal. I don't know if my sugar was high or low but i felt very dizzy and i had trouble maintaining the conversation, was like a feeling of confusion and then started to feel tremors in my chest.
Since i did not have my glucometer with me, i had a few slices of bread to see if that helped, but not much. i called 911 and told them the situation and an ambulance arrived shortly to measure my vital signs and blood sugar.
i was at 11.7 mmol/L
I have to go for a c peptide test in june and blood tests to see if this new insulin and diet will work or not.
so far i have not been able to bring it down below 10 mmol/L
I am worried.
Am i damaging my kidneys and other organs?
I also am trying to go back to school to learn web programming and on monday i had to leave the class because i was feeling weird, almost like a panick attack, was right after lunch, felt like my sugar was high and my face was very warm. I also felt dizzy from reading the text on my screen. Should i just forget about programming, is it a too stressful job for someone with diabetes? I been hearing about jobs that cause stress and can make your sugar go up a lot too.
As you can see, i have a lot of questions and little answers,I feel like i have no luck in life and this disease was the cherry on top of the sunday.

Very strange,,, my bg does go high if I don't eat enough carbs, at one point I could explain that medically, but I forgot
I have pumped for about 15 years, sometimes injection if my pump malfunctions, or don't have pump supplies, it would be strange to go back to injections, I think about it tho... if I start to make too much money to qualify for medical assistance, and yet don't make enough to buy private insurance, otherwise I love the pump,,, I explain to ppl that ask me what is the problem with going back to injections - it is like having a high speed lap top, and then going back to a typewriter, I really love my pump, I do however wish that they would Not market the pump with advertisement of ppl eating Pizza,,, Pizza is a diabetic Killer! Even with a pump, it is difficult for me to calculate for pizza, I tried square wave, dual wave, it just wigs my bg out,,, the marketing message is that 'on the pump you can eat whatever you want'. I joke to my friends, if you really want to kill me, just order me up a nice big greasy cheesy pizza and see how Whack I get, but omg, I am thinking Pizza Luce right now sounds so delicious, and I'm drooling, and prob need to take some insulin just for thinking about it. Howard Nations should sue Pizza Luce for causing diabetes! Hahaha.

Excellent! It does sound like you have some insulin resistance, so that's a good addition to your regimen! Glad you feel better.

Permalink Reply by DiabeticWarrior on May 6, 2012 at 10:04am Hi everyone, how you all doing?
I have a question...Is there a way to have lots of energy? is there any foods or vitamins or products we can take to feel more energetic?
It's been a few months i feel always tired and don't have enough energy to do all the chores i want to do.
Example: yesterday i washed my car after lunch and the rest of the day i was completely drained.
Permalink Reply by acidrock23 on May 6, 2012 at 11:02am I would agree with Acidrock23, when I am drained and don't feel like doing anything, I usually find my BG is high and I go and "burn it off" with some moderate that leads to intense exercise.
I was really pounding the raw veggies and this helped to reduce the after meal spikes but it also left me carb starved. I added some carbs with different types of Ezekiel bread(I find it in the freezer section ner the frozen pizza's), sesame, whole grain, and even the english muffins. These gave me some quality carbs that were low on the glycemic index but still quicker carbs than the raw broccoli. I usually toast the bread and spread with peanut butter, this gives me good energy without the blah, "I feel high syndrome".
Permalink Reply by acidrock23 on May 6, 2012 at 11:32am Even not on a BG level but more of a human level, exercising has other benefits besides running faster, jumping higher, biking more fluidly, etc. It can also make you happier, smarter, etc. The challenge of exercising can be daunting but if you aren't doing anything, a walk around the block is a big accomplishment. There was an old lady with a walker I ran into while I was out running and I gave her a big thumbs up and said "way to go" as I huffed and puffed by her. She laughed but, for her, just getting out, probably catapulted her into the top 1% of people with walkers. Which is not saying other people in walkers are bad, as that's a tough row to hoe, but I think that getting going has been pretty much shown to well, get you going?
