thanks for all the concern and thoughts. so I just got back from the ER. They at first told me they were going to surgically remove it, but the surgeon said it would be best to just leave it and watch for infection like you do with shrapenal from a bullet. I had an idea this would be the consensus being that I am an emt but wasnt sure because it is an impaled object. They said because I have a tendency to scar badly and am high risk for infection cutting me open and digging for it would be worse than leaving it alone. They doped me up with a bag of antibiotics and sent me home on oral ones as well and told me to come back if it starts to hurt or I start showing signs of infection. Oh and appearantly it was just because the syringe was expired( i didnt even know they had a expirarion date). Anyways I have no insurance and was running low on my stash so I grabbed on out of my travel kit. I am definately throwing all of those away. the hospital sent me home with enough to do me til I can get to the pharmacy. Once again thanks for the concern. I am so glad I found this site you all are so helpful. I live in very rural oklahoma and have only met 5 type 1s in my area since my diagnosis so it is incredibly helpful to have this site.

wow!, sorry to hear about this.

So its really still inside your stomach? I think I would have just taken a sanitized razor and cut it out then bandaged the small wound.

I'm not a doctor, but I dont understand the logic in leaving it. Could you explain?
