Orbit Micro infusion set: anyone using it?
A friend of mine just wrote to me about this infusion set which they have been using (with their T1D child on a pump) and he had only great things to say about it:

"I wanted to make you aware of a new pump inset on the market that uses a much smaller needle, that we have been using for about 2 weeks. It is compatible with all pumps and uses a metal needle that stays in as the cannula. No kinking and according to my daughter very comfortable."
Anyone else using it? Any thoughts/comments?

I also learned at least a year plus ago , that if using a Medtronic pump with this type of set , one may not be covered by MM , if things go haywire ; worth checking with MM if that's the case .

I went just now to the Canadian website and this is what I referred to , Nov. 5, 2009
I used the Orbit Micro Steel samples given at the IDF/CDA AGM /Montreal 2009 and was very disappointed to learn later I needed different reservoirs with my MM pump ( as I was travelling to the Netherlands, April 2010 I was not comfortable taking something along I had to " study " ) ...all this may have changed by now .. The Canadian Rep , a delightful lady has a son with type 1

I did use them when I was using my pump & loved them. I used the Micros & the Orbit 90s are the Teflon ones. The needle is extremely thin & I could not tell it was there at all. I have neuropathy in my hands and some of the other sets were very hard to use but the Orbits weren’t. I talked to one of the guys at ICU Medical and he is a long time diabetic & also has neuropathy so was looking to develop something diabetics would like.

I've used them on and off over the past few months. I started getting quite frequent No Delivery alarms, however, (also happened when I used Medtronic Quick-Sets), so I'm mostly back to Silhouettes. The best thing about the Orbits for me was the colour of the tape (no more shocking white!). The blue tubing and the spinning set weren't big selling points for me.

Spinning sets (or a close facsimilie thereof (see the Cleo 90 for a crude version)... Are good if your the toss and turn sort of person.. Helps out with the self-tangling and having to roll the pump under you to get untied...
(Unfortunately the cleos had to be unlocked and rotated.. still was useful but not quite as nice as if it rotated freely) Idea behind the blue tubing is it makes air bubbles more obvious... Really dont need that so much..
