Our wonderful community member brokenpole is in the hospital right now with a high fever and tenacious infection in his legs.  Sparky (as he's also known) is an incredibly active and supportive member of our community, so I wanted to share the news so you can send him your good thoughts, prayers, messages etc.  Sparky's wife, Sharon (aka smokinbeaver) is also a member of TuDiabetes, and I'm sure could also use our support right now.

Let's make a "Get Better" message wall in the discussion below...

Check out Sparky's photos and blog posts!  He's a real character, and a fantastic guy  :)

Sparky's out of the hospital, but so very tired. I saw Sharon's comments on catlover's page. We are looking forward to your complete recovery, Sparky!

Thinking of you both, sending good energy. Hope things are improving! We miss you Sparky.

Get well soon brokenpole...Sai from India :)

I had not been on the site much recently. This infection has kind of put a damper on my usual sense of humor. So imagine my surprise when I go looking through the things I had missed and come across this post by Emily and all the replies.

I sure hope it is okay for us guys to cry because as I sit here typing this message I am all teary eyed. YOU FOLKS ARE THE BEST!!.

Now for the update.

I am still on oral antibiotics. Still have swelling and pain in my left leg. I will run out of the antibiotic on Saturday and as it stands right now I don't have a lot of faith that this is going to completely knock out this infection. The most important thing for me now is to stay the hell out of the hospital. I cannot afford (finacially or otherwise) further hospital stays.

Oh, and for the record, the local hospital has got to have some of the best hospital food I have ever had. They have people that go to the hospital cafiteria to eat lunch. Says something for the place. The nursing staff is also the best.

So I am down but not out and thanks to all for the prayers and positive thoughts. They are appreciated more than you could know.

So glad that you are out of hospitalm regardless of the good food and great staff.

Still sending strong GET well wishes to you now!
