Diagnosed as a Type 1 in July, 2011 with an A1C of over 12. Curren A1C is 5.9

7 years now as T1. A1C was 14 at dx and is currently 6.2

Everyone has been so helpful so thank you so much! it's really inspiring to me to see all your low A1Cs, considering mine is so bad :( but i am going to work on it so i can go away to college next year!

Hi Cassidy,

It's our pleasure to help you. We love doing it. Do let us know how you went with your assignment.

Now how can we help you with your A1C? In our experience (I am being very presumptious in speaking for the group here), we see that many times poor numbers reflect poor teachers / lack of guidance from medical team. There are skills and knowledge that we can help you with so that your numbers will improve.

Maybe you can start a new topic, telling us hwat you normally do to manage your diabetes and then we can give you feedback.

I'm 45, had t1 for 34 years, and last a1c was 4.8.
I have had T1D for 4 1/2 years. A1C diagnoses was 8.4 I believe. My last A1C was 6.7.....down from 7.9 the visit before :-)

A1C 6.2, 7 years

I don't think they did an A1C at diagnosis for me, but I've had type 1 for 7 years and my latest A1C was 6.5

Type 1 for 8 years and my A1C is 8.8 and when I was diagnosed I was 16.5

My A1C is currently a 4. something... so I guess that's pretty good, right? :)

Oh, I've had diabetes for a year now... oh my, 12.4 is pretty high. Make sure that you take insulin with your meals okay?? Check your blood glucose all the time, that's what I do. Search the web if you need information on diabetes. Take care.

I get an A1c test every three months. This is so important.
Last A1c: 6.3
Years with Type 1: 60
Dianosed at age 9.
