Rant -- FOX TV's "Lie to Me"... 3/18/09 episode "The Best Policy" -- SPOILERS

I was rather disappointed in the details of the "A storyline" from this episode.

The general premises of the storyline are pretty common: (1) pharmaceutical company suppresses negative information regarding a life-saving drug, causing unexpected deaths, and (2) theft of corporate secrets leads to unexpected "knock-offs" of that life-saving drug.

The thing that stuck in my craw was that the drug was "an insulin pill" responsible for saving the lives of people with diabetes. Lie to Me is not intended as Science Fiction or Fantasy.

It would seem to me that the current controversy around Avandia was the likely inspiration for this; however, it would have helped greatly if the writers and researchers had gotten the basic medical details correct.

Don't bother writers with facts... or the pharmas... or the FDA...
I watched that episode last night. Didn't know until practically the end that it was an "insulin pill"...... I don't consider myself a "conspiracy theorist". A certain amount of "suspension of disbelief" is required when watching these things. I would only hope that scientists, etc are more responsible than this Rx company was pprtrayed to be.
