Permalink Reply by CherylLuck on December 2, 2012 at 12:17pm My doctor finally came clean with me at the last visit when he said that the gastric stapling I had years ago is what is now causing my problems with glucose lowering agents and food in general. I do not have enough lining to absorb what ever goes in. I know this sounds unreal. After my gastric stapling I determined that it had caused this surgically induced bulimia.. I did have the valve removed, which stopped the throwing up. but for food, I am gluten sensitive and had to remove lots of my favorite foods.I have been all over the road for years. Metformin really does me in.I don't go off medication to lose weight, although that is what happens and I need to,but, because it cannot be good to be all over the road all the time.I prefer high because I know what to expect.Another twist to this is that the government would not cover the cost for long acting insulin and as my doc said "Then you suffer". I have been on the wrong meds all my diabetic life.I get to pay that price!!!
