I have just received an email from Saundra Barragan's daughter:
"I am sorry I don't know how to work this site, and I guessed at my mom's password. I am hoping this is the Manny she always talks to. Well I have bad news, my mom Sandy Barragan passed away tonight. Sunday about 5 pm March 1. She wanted me to make sure that all her friends were informed. She loved all of you very much and talked about everyone all the time. When she was feeling bad or sick or just unhappy everyone on here made her feel better and I thank you for it. She often told me a little about all of you and how much you all helped her through. Just keep her in your prayers."

I am speechless and so very sad with this news. After an episode back in December, during which she ended in the hospital, she came back full of energy and back to her own self: you can see on her profile page she was active as of yesterday helping everyone out.

We learned to love you, Saundra! You will always live in our hearts. Please pray for us from wherever you are now.

I am sooooo sad. And soooooo mad. I was sure Sandy would have some good months ahead after she got over that rough spot in December.
What a brilliant shining star she was. She had a deep intuitive sense when people were going through tough times, and reached out to them.
When I got to work this morning I took a little peek at the TD home page to see what was happening, and when I saw that Sandy had passed, I started sobbing at my desk. I knew that Sandy endured many huge physical challenges, and never complained about them. Yes, it was time that she transitioned to the greater realm where she can do her loving work without being hindered by a body. She knew I had fallen on the ice a few years ago, breaking my ankle, was afraid of it happening again. We decided that we'd make quite a sight - two middle-aged ladies trying to hold each up on a glazed Minnesota sidewalk.
Yup, we do have our own special angel. And she will rest well in the memory of what a difference she made.
Dear friends,
We have just ordered this floral basket for Sandy on behalf of the entire TuDiabetes family.

She will be missed...
Thank you, Manny and Andreina. It's lovely. I am so deeply saddened. I, too, signed the guestbook at the funeral home site......
Beautifull flowers & a beautiful gesture.

Thank you from us all.
What an absolutely BEAUTIFUL flower arrangement....a perfect choice for Saundra.
thank you manny, i see lilies in the arrangement. they were sandy's favorite flower. i'm sure she would have loved them. she often commented on the flowers that sohair sent. she loved to send flowers to her friends. i was even blessed with a bouquet from her not very long ago.
Manny thank you for including us all in the flowers. I live a few miles from the funeral home and will be making an appearance in be half of all of you who don't live near. This display of affection for our friend on this site has been over whelmingly nice. I guess one doesn't realize that people you have never met face to face can truly be a part of your family. I feel so blessed to have found this site, not only for the personal knowledge everyone has to share but the genuine concern for each and everyone. I hope that I can form the relationships with you all that Sanundra had garnered. Again, I thank you for your generosity.
sandra,
thank-you for being able to attend. i live in western ny and sandy and i had become very good friends and it upsets me that i can't be there. i will be there in spirit because i promised sandy i wouldn't let go of her hand until everything was all said and done. i would have anyway, promise or no promise. if you can, please tell tori that i am thinking of her. she was such a rock to her mom.
thank-you again,
debb.................
Not a problem Debb. I had been speaking with Saundra since Dec. when she befriended me upon being diagnosed with diabetes. Of course those first few weeks are fairly nerve racking and one often is quite confused as what to do and how to control it all. Saundra was there for me from day one. We developed a nice friendship however short it had to be. I appreciate her welcoming me immediately and following through with my plight. I will be happy to be the gesture to her family from the people who do not live close. I only wish there would have been more time that she and I could have spent together laughing and conversing about our health and family and friends.
Manny and Andreina, These are beautiful, just like her soul and her passion she had with us all. Thanks for sharing this with us, Patti L.
I got another message from Tori, Sandy's daughter:
"Everyone can go to the site which is www.schrader.com and click on guest book and find her name and it will tell you when and where the visitation, and church is. I also showed all my sisters and brother the posts you all have left and they cried as well and thanked all of you for the support. Everyones' kind words would have made my mother smile."
Rest in peace. Saundra doesn't have to suffer anymore and she is looking down on us. She was an awesome lady and very positive
