There are some things I just can't handle BG-wise, things that, of course, I crave! I sometimes think of them as being in my D food graveyard, headstone and all.

Today the food I missed the most was bagels. Everything bagels. Everything bagels with lox, cream cheese, and a sliver of onion.

RIP bagels ;(

What's in your D food graveyard?

Yeah Zoe 'grave yard foods' is an odd term but that's how I think about things that are totally off the grid for me. Besides, we already know that I'm odd LOL

Chinese food lifts my sugar over 350 every time I indulge. Am better off having low carb(4g) ice cream. My sister and neice love it ,so I have it once or twice a year and hate it the next morning.

Wow Spock, if I were you I'd have Belgian chocolates and Champagne for dinner EVERY night LOL

The only thing I won't eat, ever, is bananas, because I ***LOATHE*** them.

Ah yes, Dr. Zira.

Dr. Zira??

Planet of the Apes. Dr. Zira, one of the apes, "loathed" bananas.

LOL

That reference definitely passed me by (never saw the movie)! I like bananas, especially dipped in nut butter which I can bolus for way less carbs than listed!

I can get by without eating most dangerous foods. Ice cream is my downfall. It seems as if that is the one food that drives up my blood sugar more than anything and the food I miss the most when I don't eat it. I have found some ice cream bars that are only 50 grams of carbs, so I try to eat those when the crave occurs.

I'm sorry - it's hard for me to comprehend this. We are obviously coming from two entirely different perspectives. I don't consider ANYthing to be "only" 50 grams of carbohydrate, in particular not a single on-its-own food like an ice cream bar. We obviously have very different eating habits. I would never eat any single item -- especially a "treat" item like an ice cream bar -- that was 50 grams of carbohydrate, on its own, in isolation. There's no nutritive value attached to an ice cream bar. I used to eat VERY differently before I developed Type 1. There are some foods -- bagels, pasta -- that it took me longer to abandon, but I haven't eaten either in at least five years now. The consequences and the massive, obscene amount of insulin I need for those, and they're not even adequately covered with that amount of insulin, just puts them off limits. Do I miss them? I miss ONE thing -- pasta with olive oil and garlic, which was always my favorite manner of eating it, but I can't even eat TINY portions of it, so it's simply not worth it.

As usual - YDMV. I couldn't eat a 50 carb ice cream bar either Brian, but lucky for you! I seem to be very carb sensitive ;\
