YES, I will have to have a Vitrectomy in my right eye. No choice. The Retinal Specialist is a very nice man, I truly like him and trust his expertise. Surgery is being scheduled and I will go to my Primary Doctor very soon to have blood work and EKG prior. Laser Surgery in my left eye in two weeks as well.
I have educated myself on the Vitrectomy and I am fine with having it done. I would lose vision and possibly blindness in that eye if I do not have the surgery....SO, that is a no brainer :)
I am overwhelmed with gratitude......I would not have the strength I do now if it wasn't for ALL of YOU, my friends whom I just love and treasure, admire. Saying "Thank You" doesn't seem to be enough. All of you mean more to me than I could ever express.
I look forward to being able to see without this "Web" of blood that I have had for the last 13 months.
The Doctor told me that this isn't my fault......"You were dealt a hand, called "Diabetes".
Grateful for this Technology. and most of all my friends and loved ones. Thank You.

Glad to here there is even more clearing for you Robyn!
Had a doc appt yesterday, still have significant CME with 20/400 vision. He gave me an intravitreal injection of Kenalog (steroid) as a next step... not very pleasant.
On a positive note I also had an epithelial defect (sort of like corneal abrasion) that is healing up. What a nightmare this has been...

I am sorry to hear this. It will clear....it has taken me 11 weeks to get where I am now. So 2 months and the last 2 or 3 weeks is when it stared to clear. It will.
Yes.....a Nightmare is right. But, soon we will both have our vision back, I just know it. Stay strong. I wish you the best!!
Permalink Reply by Robyn on February 16, 2012 at 7:58pm Today I had my eye appt. and they were able to use the image machine (last time they couldn't, too much blood) I am healing wonderful the Dr said and pressure was normal and retina looks great. No problems. So, NO SECOND SURGERY (Happy dance all day and HUGE Smile)....It will clear on it's own. Right now it is like a thin layer of vaseline and slight double vision. Fine by me...I think in a few more weeks it will be clear. Hoping. Thank you all for your continued support and well wishes. I can now stay on the computer longer, so I need to get my booty back to welcoming members and participating more on TuD. Love you all and you are all greatly appreciated by me. xo

And no second surgery? That's fabulous.
Huge (((hugs))) all around...Woohoo!
Way to hang in, Robyn. I've never been able to understand why they call us "patients" when that is the one feature we lack most. It ain't easy being 'patient' when stuff ain't working! And while I'm wondering, howcum doctors are forever 'practising'?! You'd think after a few years, they'd get fairly good at what they do but nope, even after 30 years, they retire from 'practise'.
Stupid language.
Smart Robyn.
