What Are Some (Diabetes) Things You Know You Shouldn't Do But Do Anyways?

Hello All here is my Top 10 List of Things Below:

1. Over Eating to Correct a Low

2. Leaving the Infusion Set in "Just one More Day"

3. Leaving the Lancet in your Finger Poker for Waaayyyy toooo Long.

4. Re-Using Syringes, to the point where it really does hurt

5. Eating when High - y'all know it's best to wait

6. Chasing Numbers - AKA treating a food reading with another bolus of insulin

7. Making spontaneous basal changes - Like I'm low, I'll just shut it off for a bit.

8. Ignoring alarms - both mechanical and internal, pump, CGM, and our own lows.

9. Eye Balling Gargantuan Amounts of Carbs, even though we know how to use the scale.

10. My favorite, licking the blood drop off the finger post prick! Makes me feel really rebellious.

What are some of your "Things You've Been Advised Not to Do"

Hahahahaaaaa... wow- I really got to get my husband to read this!! LOL- this is so cool. I do all of this stuff and... now I don't feel like a freak! WOOT!
Aw, c'mon, we're ALL freaks!! Every last one of us on the face of the earth. Just freaky in different ways! :-)
I'm probably guilty of all of the above (Except maybe the alcohol ones; other than an occasional beer I don't drink much).

But I've had diabetes for over 30 years and I've never been to a foot-doctor (though my doctor does touch my feet with a wire and ask "did you feel that?"). Is that wrong?
"Much" is a matter of opinion - Ones "not much" may be anothers "alot" I dont drink "much" either. If GP or endo is checking your feet and you keep a regular eye on them, no need for a foot dr. The only time I have been to foot doctor in over 30 years of diabetes is when I thought that I broke my foot!
I suppose you're right.... I'll have a drink, on average, once a month maybe? Though when I was in college.... whole different story. I don't know how I got through there alive!

Sandwiches: I know an english muffin is way better for my type 2 but I still sometime make a sandwich with a bagel. I know it sounds trivial, but the bagel is 2 times harder on my pancreas than the english muffin.
They have thin whole wheat bagels....They taste good to me and are thinner than a slice of toast so its not so hard on the pancreas....
Whole wheat works.

The size of the bread isn't the issue for me. A bagel, any bagel because it's a bagle, gets a glycemic load of about 11 per ounce, where an english muffin, of the same size, and weight, gets a load of about 5 per ounce. I don't use medication to control my A1c so knowing the load on any particular carb is what I was talking about. The english muffin is just easier for my pancreas than the bagle. FYI ... the load from wonder bread gets about a 7 per oz.
YEs I love bagels and it was my standard breakfast til I got my CGM - Then it moved to the forbidden list the high fibre english muffins are so much easier on or bodies. I find the high fibre ones are so much better and take less insulin to cover.
ooohhhhh...i can ward off a bagel high much better than i can an english muffin high! i love english muffins....but boy does my blood sugar hate them...they're the devil lol!
Have you tried the high fibre ones only 17 carbs; i find if I take a couple linlks of turkey sausage with them it slows down the spike and of course the lemonwater helps too!
