Out of curiosity, what did you all eat for breakfast this morning? I am curious to see how we manage our BG numbers. Whether you are type 1, 2, LADA, MOBY, etc, I think it will be fun to see what we all eat.

To start it off, I had:
Tea with Stevia drops
2 egg omelette with 2 tablespoons black beans, 1/4 cup red pepper, 2 tablespoons salsa, chipotle sauce, and cheddar cheese. This was cooked in 1 tablespoon bacon fat.

I was at 8.4 this morning when I woke up, (151 i believe) so I bolused 2 units of Novo-Rapid for it. (To cover the protein of the eggs and cheese, and the carbs in the beans.)

So, what did you have this morning?

Currently 18 weeks pregnant and unable to eat anything at all before noon due to insane insulin resistance. When I get up, I need 1 unit of Apidra for plain old oxygen and a cup of hot water. A cup of tea with a splash of milk and no sugar costs 2 units Apidra. Any small protein snack is 4 units Apidra. Carbs? Forget it - the other day, 1/8 of a bagel + 4 units Apidra raised me 60 mg/dl to 151 mg/dl.

Have just had basal changed from Lantus to Levimir which is giving me crappy morning highs. So some mornings, I'll have had 10 units Apidra before noon and the only breakfast I'll have had is my cup of tea with splash of milk and no sugar.

I do wonder if it's DP and if my numbers would be better if I ate something, but I am literally too scared to put anything in my mouth before noon.
You didn't mention the timing of the Long term insulin. I get good results by splitting my Lantus to a morning shot and about 5 hours later a lunch time shot, that makes the so called 24hour insulin actually last longer. Also there is good proof in my experience that Dr Bernstein is right when he says it is best to never inject more than, he says, 7u in one location, so I make my maximum 8u, so I do 8u am and 7u at about 1-3pm and then when dinner comes I am usually so low, that I don't even need a short term dose because I eat very low carb anyway. If my blood sugar level is at 8.x mmol at midnight, it will be down to 2.8mmol=50.4 mg/dl by morning, even with the remaining part ot the lunch time dose of Lantus.

One thing I remember from 5 years ago, is that during my monthly cycle I always had to take more insulin during the two weeks of the progesterone part of the cycle which is the second half after ovulation. I learned from a gynocologist's book that the progesterone is high throughout pregnancy.. When not pregnant, when the progesterone drops suddenly, that triggers the menstruation and the lining of the uterus comes out. So my prediction is that you will experience what seems to be insulin resistance for the pregnancy, but will get back to normal after the birth. I suppose your gynocologist following your pregnancy has mentioned that children inside can gain weight if their own pancreases start processing and storing the glucose from your blood, so that is an incentive to make sure your blood sugar is in control.
If you do eat something in the morning, then, make sure it is low carb for breakfast. What I do is cook beef on a George Foreman grill and have little 2oz cooked patties in the fridge, which I can eat cold like a cookie if I am really hungry. You could cut it up into bite sized pieces and warm it up in the microwave... Maybe only 1oz is all you need. The protein would be good for the baby's development too, inside your body. I would say protein is more valuable than 1/8 of a bagel which turns mostly into glucose. Even protein can turn into glucose after the protein is used for the body's immediate needs.
I split my Levimir 3 way

I had a 3oz pork sausage pattie
Type 2: Boiled egg - spoonful of peanut butter - half tab Metformin (I hide it in the PB to prevent side effects) :) - Black coffee - Large mug of Crystal Light.
2 eggs w/ broccoli, chives, goat cheese & ham.
YUM! That sounds like what I'm going to make tomorrow for my brunch.

I'm on a big broccoli kick right now, including dreaming about it.
2 turkey sausage patties, a round of babybel cheese and some SF jello. If I want something sweet, I'll have a smoothie made with skim milk, NF yogurt, 1/4 cup fresh fruit, a scoop of protein powder and a tablespoon of ground flaxseed. I'm T1 and I've learned to keep breakfast low carb - pancakes are a once a year, huge treat!
Three eggs, three sausages, and two cups of coffee with heavy cream.
T2. 2 eggs, left over roast beef reheated with the eggs, topped with Parmesan cheese.

It being Sunday: Vegetarian eggs benedict - double fiber english muffin, 2 eggs, asparagus and tomatoes, hollandaise sauce , +cappuchino= 33 carbs During the week: 1/2 refried black refried beans, 2 eggs cooked with chiles onions and tomatoes plus cappuchino - 23 carbs
Deer steak? I would LOVe to see how that would taste. I hope it is cooked med-rare?
